Blizzard named 3rd of 50 top developers {WoW}

Mar 7th 2008 8:45PM That ranking is a pile of dung, honestly.

It's not Blizzard being 3rd or Nintendo Kyoto being 1st or whatever. It's Infinity Ward being 2nd. IW made two good MoH clones and one very good modern warfare shooter. But making very good shooters is not an art today (F.E.A.R, Half-Life, Portal, anyone?).

This is just part of the silly console hype going on right now.

Breakfast Topic: Instance for sale {WoW}

Feb 29th 2008 8:19AM Real newbies don't ask for Deadmines. Ppl who ask for being pulled through instances are usually (pvp-) twinks of rich players. So I usually charge them the amount of gold I would earn by doing dailies instead (5-20 gold).

Breakfast Topic: Skill or +resilience gear? {WoW}

Feb 16th 2008 8:39AM Gear > Skill. No doubt.

I see it every day. In midlevel PvP I'm always one of the top players, in endgame PvP I suck. Even clothies don't want to die, oh wait, they are stacked in purple and have tons of resi, HP and mana. Arenas are fine. You meet players that you actually are able to beat. But there is no arena rating in world PvP or BG PvP - arena gear has spoiled those completely. In AB and WSG usually that group wins, which has 1) more ppl in S2/S3 and 2) less leechers. In this order.

This isn't much different than how it was when ppl in T2/AQ ruled Alterac Valley, but it still sucks. But back then, ppl just had more AP, Sta etc. Today they nullify your best skills by just pushing one stat. Arena gear, esp S3 is so overpowered that players become twice as powerful as others in PvP, just through gear. Before you can beat them, you have to compensate this first - through skill.

I don't want to QQ - gear is what the game is all about and those ppl stacked in S3 purple have invested much more time and effort in PvP than I did. But I _really_ hope there won't be a S4 set. AV, AB and WSG will become a slaughterhouse for everyone not equipped in at least S1. Hopefully Blizz will think about arena gear in Wrath and change the way you achieve it or how it works outside arenas.

All the World's a Stage: RP-PVP - Killing in Character {WoW}

Dec 17th 2007 8:21AM Ganking is OK on RP-PvP servers. *One* kill is always free and fair. Emotes and griefing are for idiots only.

Breakfast Topic: Favorite patch {WoW}

Nov 25th 2007 8:27AM Patch 2.02 is missing (new honor system, new TBC mechanics). That was probably the patch I yearned for most, because of the honor points.

Alterac Valley is the new Alterac Valley {WoW}

Nov 14th 2007 7:01PM My first match was a horrible "alliance defends base, horde does everything else" match. My second match, on the other hand, was a very intense battle for the bunkers and featured a lot of PvP.

Nobody's perfect {WoW}

Nov 10th 2007 12:30PM Trying to corner a market (flooding the AH with a certain ware at high prices and buying up all cheap competitors) is always a mistake. There are always dumb***es who do not realize that high prices are good for everyone and flood the market with cheap wares as soon as the prices go up. I've seen this a trillion times. There are three, maybe four people regularly selling item X for price Y in the AH. Then, someone new shows up and sells for Y-1 gold. I don't know why these guys do not realize that that there are silver and even copper coins available to undercut your competitors. If three guys of this kind show up at the same time, you can imagine that prices almost instantly drop by 50%. So, if prices go down, do not buy. Instead, withdraw from the market for a few weeks and wait until the jerks have earned their epic and are gone. I made this mistake too often.
