Dec 9th 2011 10:41AM Good article, and I agree: this is the same as the EPO epidemic that nearly destroyed professional cycling (both spurred by a perception that "everyone was doing it" and that chances of getting caught and punished were low). This is damaging to the respect the sport/race garners, and as such is worthy of being punished.
I will say this, however: blizzard in part brought it on themselves, by being lax in responding to cheating done in Wrath and T11. Once people obeying rules get the impression that the lawmakers are not doing enough to punish those breaking the rules , the rules lose authority.
One thing though: "It's not as if DREAM Paragon and Blood Legion both were using some boss strategy that they weren't telling anyone about that was fine by the rules, and the other guilds were crying foul " That sentence implies that BL was also among the guilds cheating, which they most surely were not.
Oct 28th 2011 4:40AM My single favorite addon must be TradeSkillMaster. Takes a ton of setup, but once you have it set up, it does so much work for you, it's mindboggling. Trying to AH PVP without this is entering a tank battle on a Segway.
Oct 28th 2011 4:35AM Speaking as an alliance player on a PvP realm which was somewhat horde biased in the past, which got worse over time, and descended into a 10:1 ratio with some of the vilest horde griefer guilds this side of the third circle of hell, this is going to be the final straw for me to pay for server transfer. Vashj'ir was hell, but I can just imagine those guilds making the 85+ quest hub their guild hall permanently. It will be slaughter. Off to a PvE server.
"Shouldn't have rolled on a PvP server"... Well, it used to be a PvP (occasionally PPvP) server. Now it's a PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPvP server, that's not what I signed on for.
Aug 23rd 2011 11:07AM Re: DK Judgement set. A good "second best" is the purple recolor of the Judgement set (http://www.wowhead.com/compare?items=27790:27539:27897:27548:27748:28221:27489:27457;16951:16952:16953:16954:16955:16956:16957:16958) (if that link does not work, go check out the judgement set on wowhead, the purple recolor is disussed there. It has a nice flavor, and looks like a "corrupted" pally, which is fitting for a DK, I guess.
Jul 11th 2011 5:00AM Both Ayla and Damek also require 125 marks of the grind tree to be paid for their services, do they not?
May 16th 2011 8:08AM This paladin thinks all pallies will stop grinning once they're at or over 102.4% and all of the following happens:
1. Additional mastery becomes useless (byebye mastery on-uses, reforge OUT of mastery as of then). You'll be unequipping that Mirror of Broken Images before long (or equipping it purely for the on-use, grudgingly throwing some "excess" mastery down the drain).
2. Dodge and parry become the go-to (and reforge-to) avoidance stats to such an extent that diminishing returns kick in HARD.
3. Healers start complaining because blocking 30% of a hit more than 60% of the time is nowhere near as good as blocking 30% some of the time, and blocking 60% the rest of the time.
4. Emergency "avoidance" trinkets also lose some of their use, as you're pushing blocked hits, not full hits off the combat table.
I hope this isn't the extent of where they're going with our mastery, because I don't want to become the only tank with a mastery (hard) cap, that's getting easier and easier to hit, to boot, and I DEFINITELY don't wanna be hitting it midway through t12.
Apr 8th 2011 9:02AM Awesome suggestion on the reforging. Is there something similar for glyphs? Constantly switching between my boss glyphs, my trash glyphs, my magic fight glyps and my pvp glyphs makes me go bonkers.
Apr 1st 2011 2:50AM @Leigh: get a nameplates addon that can show you cast bars of players that you are not targeting, and turn that on. Tidyplates can do this.
If you see a pink nameplate with a castbar, or if you see any kind of healing spell on that castbar (out of the corner of your eye): there's your target.
Apr 1st 2011 2:46AM @gabrael: I'm honestly enormously surprised to hear that. On our realm (EU - Shattered Hand, 4:1 H:A ratio) TB has been changing hands I'd estimate 80% of the battles ever since the last round of fixes that increased the cap speed going from 2->3. Given the amount of time you need the defense to stay focused, and stay moving and flowing, there always tends to be that lapse in concentration when ressers stay to long trying to re-cap a lost flag, or when there's two different calls going out as to what point to defend/retake next.
TB has really gotten quite good and exhilarating ever since, offering great Honor rewards, and a great sense of achievement. If anything, it's stacked in the favor of attack, now, though, because they only need to get it right for one second (and it usually is just that, the overlap between losing the first node you capped and the last just needs to be that). Getting 40+ ADH...ooooh shiny WoW players on defense to concentrate for the time needed to run down the timer with all towers destroyed is no mean feat, and that's why defense has really gotten hard, but satisfying.
Mar 31st 2011 5:01AM While I don't miss having to use pallypower, it loved it when it was around. NOT because I loved using it, but because it made an impossible mess bearable. Raidleader "pallies, sort out buffs amongst you. DONE".
That being said, thank God we don't have to do that anymore (nor manage short time durations of said buffs, nor manage the offspecs that want a lesser buff because they don't benefit from the class wide buff you've given). It was impossible without PP, and for that it should be remembered fondly.
