Keepin' it real fake: PSP-shaped Mini Game King makes classic emulation a royal decree {Engadget}

Apr 27th 2010 1:13PM Hah nice.. I have the previous Dingoo as well. Got the A-320 from Thinkgeek:

Awesome little pocket emulator.

For anyone curious, the "3D Game" menu is for native Dingoo/GameKing games. The emulator support is pretty good, but the developer community seems pretty slim these days. Too many other shiny toys came out to pull devs away from the Dingoo.

And yeah, the Pandora, if/when it comes out, will probably be the preferred "open gaming portable" out there. But if you got a couple bucks, the Dingoo is great. The A-320 plays Divx movies ( see my Dell Mini 9 and Dingoo playing the same movie at the same time here: ), has an FM radio (never really used it so don't know how well it works), plays Flash FLV animations, MP3s, will do text-to-speech on text files (in english) and has a rechargable battery and expandable memory (seems to work fine with an 8GB SDHC from A-Open).

Insignia NS-HD01: first-ever portable HD Radio on sale at Best Buy {Engadget}

Sep 30th 2009 7:53PM I picked up one of these last weekend, took it for a spin and was disappointed. I didn't pick up a single HD station in Annapolis, MD. I know there are some around here. Maybe closer to DC or Baltimore, but if they're transmitting with the same wattage as their analog counterparts, I should have picked up something.

I made sure the headphones were plugged in and held my hand up in the air and all that.

If you live in an area where you can get a signal, then this is probably a great unit. I had to take mine back, though. Guess I need to just get a proper car stereo with HD and hope my car's antenna does a better job with reception.

Best Buy goes 3D, even augmented reality isn't safe from advertising {Engadget}

Aug 6th 2009 8:30AM Best Buy isn't the only one, at least one other company, Papa Johns, is using AR with the tag on the bottom of their pizza boxes:

Around Azeroth: Romeo and Juliet {WoW}

Oct 27th 2007 8:46PM After seeing so many bit of furniture, buildings, rooms, etc all copy and pasted over and over in WoW, little extra unique detail like this really stands out to me. I thought it was a cool bit of a detail.

Thanks to WoW Inside for publishing it!

WoW Moviewatch: The Bloodsail Grind {WoW}

Aug 20th 2007 2:53PM @2 - You're looking at someone grinding booty bay bruisers to get Bloodsail rep.

@4 - See below

First a couple corrections to the main article:

I did my Bloodsail grind pre-TBC, so I can't say that you won't lose faction with Area 52 guys these days, but while I *am* an outcast from Everlook, Ratchet, Booty Bay, Gadgetzan and can't use the flight point in Marshall's Refuge (Un'Goro Crater).. and until I got higher level, I got harassed by goblins at Flame Crest (flight master isn't goblin though, so was able to use it still), my mage is perfectly accepted at Area 52 and Cosmowrench currently. I'm able to wander town, get quests (even from goblins) etc. So I think they're exempt from Bloodsail hatred.

That, and the fact that Everlook, Gad and Booty Bay all have "rep repair NPCs" outside and A52/Cosmo don't, leads me to believe that Bloodsail Admirals should be ok in Outland.

Also, it's not just a hat at Friendly level, a couple patches back they added boots, belt, pants and shirt at Neutral. No idea why they'd go and add stuff to the Bloodsail rep rewards, but happy they did. And just in case they they add more, I'm keeping my rep. Who cares if I have to shield, blink, shield, ice block, blink, etc every time I go to Caverns of Time, it's worth it :)

Couple of tips for anyone interested in doing this:

1. In your 30's or so, you can start the rep grind by killing Blackwater Raiders in the hidden pirate cove of Arathi Highlands.

2. Around level 57 or so, you should be able to start grinding Booty Bay Bruisers. If you're doing it solo, that's about as good as you can get. If you're doing it with friends, you'll get more points from killing the tauren and goblin 'leaders' of Booty Bay, but be courteous to other players who may need them for quest turnins. (they respawn fairly quickly.. within 3 mins if I recall). Just watch out for nets and guns on the guards. They hurt.

3. Don't do ANY quests event remotely near Booty Bay if you don't want to lose Bloodsail rep. I made the mistake of doing the 'giblets' quest because the NPCs involevd weren't Booty Bay faction, but I still lost 500 Bloodsail rep for just talking to the guy. Also, the Tanaris, Feralas and Hinterlands 'egg/chicken' escort quests are Booty Bay affiliated too.

4. And a nugget I've never seen published anywhere else.. during holidays, guards in Booty Bay sleep.. VERY soundly. The quest you get at friendly for the Bloodsail Admiral's Hat requires you to kill the tauren and goblin leaders of BB. I think I did this on during the "July 4th" holiday. No guards intervened when I attacked the leaders and was able to finish it without a problem. :)

When I was still running a mob kill count tracker, I had over 2000 kills just on the pirates in Arathi Highlands if I recall.

Good luck to all you would-be Pirates out there.

Senile - 70 Undead Mage
GM - Angry Pirates

PS. Funny that I'm actually wearing my Bloodsail tshirt today.. only WoW related shirt I own. :)

Addon Spotlight: Possessions {WoW}

Aug 14th 2007 1:17PM I've been using Possessions ever since the original Sanity broke ages ago (1.1x era?). I tried Sanity2 but it was too fancy and didn't do everything I had gotten used to in Possessions by then (or maybe I just liked Possessions' simplicity better than Sanity2).

I haven't updated Poss in a few weeks and will have to check to see which link posted here goes to the version I'm using. If it's not the 'official' one, I'll have to give it a spin.

One thing that I've noticed that it doesn't seem to record proper was either off-hand items (not weapons I think.. just non-weapon offhands) and/or wands. I was trying to see what my mage had equipped while I was on my rogue and it said 'nothing' when I set the filters to the character and slot.

I'm sure I checked the slot to make sure it wasn't a difference between "offhand weapon" and "offhand item" if there was a separate option.

Also, if you send mail to an alt, it will record "someitem in somealt's inbox" but if you click "return" on an item, it doesn't show it as being in the inbox of the alt who sent it.

Definitely a 9.5 out of 10 for inventory tracking mods though.

Encrypted Text: Advanced raiding, AEP and the Rogue DPS Spreadsheet {WoW}

Aug 8th 2007 1:30PM HealPoints exists on Curse Gaming.

Some people disagree with the 'points' weights that people put on things for these mods, though. You might check out RatingsBuster which tells you what you'd be gaining/losing then figure out how much of what stat you want (by referring to threads like this about the value of the stats to different classes)
