May 31st 2010 9:04AM Have to comment here - I've levelled a mage (first main char), druid and shaman. Now my shaman is raiding and I've not touched the other chars for 6-8 months. Whilst i do get bored when i log onto my shaman and there's not much to do (got all the badge gear, etc etc), it means that i then log off and do something else. So I'm not dropping 20 hours a week into this game anymore, and that's gotta be a good thing.
Feb 2nd 2010 10:06AM Wow - i've been doing those for a year i guess and never even considered that subtext. In my defense, i'm the guy that clicks through the walls of text for quests in an effort to get them done as i really don't care about the Lore of this game (well not as much as i should).
Nov 25th 2009 10:31PM Ursin Alliance ftw - i think it has got better in the last few months since the transfers came in (as well as the faction changes) but my recollection of levelling 3 chars was that it was brutal. Kudos to Chogall though for going for it.
Oct 15th 2009 1:58PM This is a constant WoW meme that I've seen argued for at least 2 years.. in the blue corner we have
- WoW > RL : don't waste everyone else's time with your antics
and in the red corner
- RL > WoW : my sick child/significant other/pet and/or job are more important.. if you have to wait well it sucks to be you then.
The truth lies somewhere between the two e.g. your child isn't going to be sick right on raid time every Tuesday (for example) such that you are ALWAYS late for raid. Similarly, there are people that habitually log on for raids late, for no good reason.
LUCKILY (!) there is more than one guild in the world and different guilds have different expectations. If you are always AFKing in raid to look after your children, and the raiders start to get upset, then you find a guild where they will understand and not be upset. If you hate wasting time then find a guild where they don't waste time.
Now that we can even change faction and stay on the same server, it is easier than ever to find a guild that fits your playstyle & lifestyle.
Aug 6th 2009 8:26AM Tier hat from Kara. Tanked/dps'd that countless times, and NEVER.EVER.EVER. saw it drop. As noted by nearly everyone, it would only drop when i was there on my mage /facepalm
Jul 31st 2009 10:16AM >I'm don't really understand why someone devoting an hour a week to the game should be able to reap the same reward as someone devoting an hour a day.
Batching up dailies into weeklies (why not monthlies?) may help in our time-poor societies but, if you go down this route, why is there any incentive for people to be online regularly? Furthermore, this isn't the 'astonishing Sunwell heroic badge loot' jihad of 2008, where phat lewtz were available because some players are simply unable to play at the same time with 9 or 24 others in order to raid. This is a case of people doing solo content that would like to do less of it, and be rewarded equally.
I'll, on occasion, get annoyed with the fellow guildy in full 213's who runs 2 heroics a day and pugs epics 3 hours a week, then I realise that they put the time in so get these rewards. Same for dailies and rep/gold.
Jul 15th 2009 10:13AM >> massive slap in the face
there needs to be some Corollary to Godwin's Law regarding the probability of the phrase 'slap in the face to ' appearing as a conversation about WoW grows.
Jul 3rd 2009 9:01AM (despite the contradiction of a comment QQing about commentary software)
as the world continues to comment on what we are all doing, instead of actually doing anything, we are heading towards...
as for 'don't like it, don't use it'.. as much as i enjoy the thought of you Tweeters out there all crowded around computer screens waiting for your next update (or cyber-stalking..depends on your perspective), i'd prefer you all do something constructive.
Apr 29th 2009 9:44AM SERIOUSLY..
Its great that people are _still_ so passionate about this topic but, really, shouldn't we have all seen this coming.. new raid introduced, then tuned down. You could copy/paste wowinsider comments from 'the great Sunwell nerf' from unplayable (shaman/LW stacking anyone?) to merely ridiculous in this thread.
this is the same discussion, the same for and against arguments, and the same situation for each lessening of raid difficulty since I started playing this game (BC kiddie). So that's two years of this nonsense.
TL:DR have some perspective, for goodness sakes.
Jan 2nd 2009 8:21AM Ursin ftw. Despite being 3/1 Horde/Alliance (constant ganking for any sort of dailies anywhere for this little black Alliance duck), I've never ever seen a queue to get on. In fact I have no idea what any of you are talking about with this 'queuing'.
