Mar 23rd 2010 12:09PM A climb or jump ability. I know it's negated with flying, but I've always wanted my super-agile nelf to be able to hop up the sides of a mountain like the druid in the cinematic could.
Mar 19th 2010 11:55AM I have a major issue with the way you say that suicide is selfish, Robin. It shows a complete lack of understanding of how mental illness actually WORKS.
While you, who probably has never suffered suicidal thoughts and feel yourself comfortably in the 'sane' territory, feel completely justified in saying that a person who commits suicide is selfish, I know many survivors of attempts who would tell you to go shove that up your ass - myself included.
For a lot of people who suffer suicidal thoughts and tendencies, staying alive is the selfish choice. They're so far gone that they believe they're a burden to their friends and family and that the only way to relieve the weight is to get rid of the problem - often they can see how much their illness burdens their friends and family and they can connect the dots. In their minds - which, in the truly ill, suicidal person DOES NOT WORK LIKE A HEALTHY PERSON'S - it's logical that ridding the world of themselves is the perfect way of solving a lot of problems. You're dealing with a mindset that is VASTLY different than your own. Survivors have to deal with being told every day of their lives that they were selfish idiots who should live for their families. No one ever calls out a family for being selfish for wanting to keep a person who is in absolute agony around just to make themselves feel better. Some suicidal people work through it. A lot don't.
There are people who do use suicide to manipulate people, or to escape certain consequences, or just generally selfishly as a cry for attention, but people like that are just a drop in the ocean compared to those for whom suicide is just another, permanent, symptom of their mental illness.
So please, shut up. Rarely do I ever call out a writer on this site, even if I don't agree with what they've written, but your complete lack of sensitivity to the survivors of suicide is appalling and disgusting.
Mar 16th 2010 8:45AM I think the hiding in a corner strategy is a holdover from the earlier, easier heroics. We're so conditioned by Wrath tactics to just AOE everything down in five seconds, we don't want to take the extra twenty to figure out CC so the pulls are less of a headache. On my hunter, I tend to long-range freeze trap the pesky marksmen or mages because they invariably refuse to come around the corner - mostly because the corner strategy is hell on hunters. I hate it. I can't do anything for the first ten seconds of combat because the tank is waiting for those last one or two ranged mobs to come around the corner and I have to be crammed way back into melee range or 'it doesn't work.' So I usually pop out and freeze trap the irritant - and proceed to get yelled at for using CC.
I wish we could fight in the hallway.

Mar 9th 2010 8:14AM Bran is a family name for men in mine, so I don't think anyone would notice if I tacked on an extra 'n' if I ever had male sprogs. A lot of Dwarf names are Gaelic/Welsh homages, which are fairly common where I'm from.

Jan 22nd 2010 5:54PM At the risk of getting on my soapbox here, it has to be said:
Rape is not now, nor will it ever be, an appropriate word to use in ANY CONTEXT AT ALL, except for a victim of sexual violence accusing his or her abuser.
Rape is not a pleasant word. It is not a funny word. It describes a certain type of violence towards another living, breathing being that is beyond reprehensible and it has so many demeaning, violent connotations for both men and women. If someone tells you to kindly stop using that word, and you say 'no, I have the right of free speech,' you are a flying douchenozzle. Full stop. Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars. In fact, using that word at all in public in a 'joking' manner is reprehensible and you should feel ashamed of yourself. You are trivializing the true horror of sexual violence.
And while I'm here, quit calling things 'gay' or 'retarded.' I don't know if you realize this, people, but that is homophobic and ableist and it makes you look like a complete idiot when you use it. Please stop. We have so many perfectly good four-letter words to call in-game mobs, let's not fall back onto ableist, sexist, racist, homophobic, or transphobic slurs.
Jan 18th 2010 2:36PM Anon, you are a tool, and you should feel ashamed of yourself. The score might have been the same on the items you were using, but upgrading from a heavy agil item to a heavy strength item is a huge leap in DPS for a Ret paladin. Then you started whining and moaning like a little kid who didn't get their way.
If I was your guild leader, you'd be out on your ear so fast, your head would spin. The retribution paladin was a class act, and you're just little twerp.
Jan 11th 2010 8:59AM Don't know what it is, since all my 80s are specced DPS for raiding (pally, feral druid, blood DK, and hunter), but it takes about five minutes max for my queue to pop on all of them. There was a brief stint in there with my retadin where I'd have upwards of 45 minutes in a queue and managed to finish Seeker and make a massively healthy dent in Loremaster (just Howling Fjord, Zul'Farrak, and Icecrown to go, bb!). Now, I'm lucky to race down the hall for a bathroom break before my queue goes.
Jan 9th 2010 8:02PM An 'Out of Breath' debuff would be pretty funny. Charging around all the time in full plate with sword'n'board can't be good for respiration.
