WoW Insider's Loot-idays: Day two {WoW}

Dec 23rd 2008 6:12PM Another losing entry to add to the pile. Thanks anyway, though.

Happy Loot-idays from WoW Insider: Day one {WoW}

Dec 22nd 2008 7:53PM Yay! Something else I won't win.

All the World's a Stage: So you want to be a Mage {WoW}

Dec 8th 2008 11:17AM Please forgive me if I'm being thick.

Why, if Night Elves have all but banned Arcane Magic, do Druids have so many spells in the Arcane school? I know that they are all named for the moon and stars, so they seem to be literally nature spells that do arcane-type damage. And most Mages have spells that are named after elements of nature, that do their own school of damage. So, literally they're nature (or as many people say, elemental) spells that do a "nature"-type damage (frost, fire, etc.).

I guess my problem is that I shouldn't think of things as the mechanics of the game separates them, but instead as the wording of the spells goes.

But that still doesn't fill it all in for me. Is it a specific source that the magics come from? As you say Arcane magic comes from a certain place and Druids are sort of calling not on the Light nor are they calling on the Arcane, but on the power of Earth and Nature, which makes them more like Shaman.

But why wouldn't a Druid be able to call upon Nature to bring a Blizzard instead of a Hurricane? Why wouldn't a Mage be able to bring on a Hurricane instead of a Blizzard?

If anyone can help me understand this distinction, I'd be grateful.

Downtime extended to 1 O'Clock PST {WoW}

Dec 2nd 2008 2:28PM Is it just me or does anyone else imagine that at 3am in the Blizzard Server Warehouse someone looked up at the clock and said, "Huh. Where is everyone? Didn't they get the memo that downtime was at 3am instead of 5am this morning?"

At around 5am when everyone starts shuffling in, bleary-eyed and ready for the regular 5am to 11am downtime duties, someone says, "oh, it was supposed to be 3am? I forgot to set my alarm, sorry."

So, same stuff gets done, just delayed by two hours because they accidentally started two hours late.

I doubt it's some last-minute hotfix. I can't imagine them coding up a hotfix, testing it and implementing it in the span of two hours. That's just way too risky. I don't see Blizzard these days as big risk-takers.

Still, I'm not upset at anyone for it. They're human beings. These things happen. It does seem kind of an odd coincidence that a maintenance that was supposed to start two hours early ends up lasting an extra two hours. Who wants to get up at 3am on a Tuesday morning? Especially when you're used to waking up at 5am for the last several Tuesdays. Well, earlier than that. But at least they don't have to worry about traffic that early.

I'm really itching to play this morning and having to wait another two hours is a bother. But I'll live.

Countdown to Wrath Giveaway Day -1 - Razer Destructor mousing surface {WoW}

Nov 14th 2008 6:36PM So, if I haven't heard anything back yet from you, that means I haven't won anything so far? Have the drawings already been held for all these? Or does that come later?

I'm tired of losing. I'd like to win just once, just to know what I'm missing out on.

Countdown to Wrath Giveaway Day 0 - Razer Lachesis mouse {WoW}

Nov 13th 2008 7:56PM My Wrath key code is invalid and I haven't been about to get in touch with Blizz for them to be able to work it out yet. I'm really feeling down about this. A new mouse might help to raise my spirits, but I doubt it.

Countdown to Wrath Giveaway: Day 0 - Wrath Collector's Edition boxes {WoW}

Nov 13th 2008 9:44AM Okay now this is just excessive. I'd just save it until it could fetch some money on an auction site and try to get as much as I could for it. It's like giving money away.

On second thought, count me in please.
