1,000 guilds have killed heroic Ragnaros {WoW}

Nov 16th 2011 11:49PM Another potential reason for their being more 10-man kills than 25-man (in general, not just Rag) is that most fights are easier in 10-man as you have more room to spread out and work with because there's 15 less people there.

WoW Archivist: The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj {WoW}

Apr 19th 2011 1:54PM I was a pretty fresh lvl 60 when Mannoroth opened the gates (US 2nd, only pvp server in the top 10). An alliance guild rang the gong at 5 pm on a Friday with a horde guild getting a ring in as well soon after (I was so envious of the Black Qiraji mount, and still am).

Yes, not only were there long queues to log on, tons of lag near Silithus, and server crashes galore, but I even heard of news reporters creating accounts and getting summoned as low level characters into Silthus to report on the event.

There was a slew of enemies pouring through the gates and the bug spawns in most other Kalimdor zones (Feralas, Tanaris The Barrens, etc all were fighting them too). On top of that, the 3 big bug hives in Silthus had raid boss bugs spawn, at least one of which would do a knock-back ability that would send people anywhere near it flying across the zone, most likely to their death.

The opening of Anh'Qiraj is definitely one of the things that, if you got to participate, gave WoW a VERY epic feel to it.

The Queue: EARTHQUAKE makes me nervous! {WoW}

Mar 18th 2011 11:32AM Your response to Transit's question is missing a little bit of information.

You can only kill a boss once a week (doesn't matter if it is 10 man, 25 man, normal, heroic). But, you can "lose" out on killing a boss by joining a raid that is already past it and accepting their instance progression as your own (say you've killed Magmaw earlier in the week, then join a raid who's on Maloriak, if you want to do that with them, you'll have to miss being able to kill Omnotron for the week).

The main thing that was left out is that when doing heroic mode bosses, you can't change raid size and still do heroic mode. If you kill Halfus heroic mode in 25-man, you can do Twin Dragons on 10-man normal, but you CAN'T do them 10-man heroic mode. You can still switch raid sizes and do other bosses on normal, but you can't do heroic bosses with different raid sizes in the same instance.

Breakfast Topic: Do you still play your first character? {WoW}

Mar 15th 2011 8:34AM My main since I started playing in July 2005 has been an Orc Shaman. I also made an Orc Shaman for the stress-test beta the previous year. I did this after reading Lord of the Clans, all about Thrall, and usually playing Orc in Warcraft 3.

Breakfast Topic: How hard are you working on guild achievements? {WoW}

Mar 10th 2011 11:27AM Whoo helms tomorrow indeed!

We just had a guildie blow 45kg on mats for flasks and now have the big cauldron.

We're still 3.5k fish away from the good feast, but we had someone xfer a few weeks back with it so the desire just isn't there.

Valor point conversion, arena season 10 delayed until patch 4.2 {WoW}

Mar 8th 2011 10:08AM I guess to give you a straight answer: 4.2 is still a ways off, just buy your VP upgrades now and enjoy this content.

Valor point conversion, arena season 10 delayed until patch 4.2 {WoW}

Mar 8th 2011 10:07AM When patch 4.2 comes out, you'll "lose" all of your VP, to prevent people from getting a jump on the new tier of gear. I say "lose" but they'll just be converted to JP. Also with 4.2, all current VP gear will be available for purchase with JP, and new VP gear will be available.

So, if you're holding out on purchasing some new VP gear, you can buy it now for VP, or wait for 4.2 and buy it with JP. They haven't said if the cost will convert exactly (i.e. will rings that cost 1250 VP right now cost 1250 JP come 4.2). Also, you can assume existing JP gear will drop in price.

Ready Check: Using macros for raid calls {WoW}

Mar 4th 2011 2:25PM First off, I pity the guilds that are actually trying to down new bosses this way.

More importantly, it is super risky making people rely on reading raid chat to know to do something. For one, they need to make sure they configure their chat frames in a way that doesn't cause them to stand in a fire while tunneling on their chat.

/say macros are better for "move away from me" because the message will appear above the person and if you are standing on the person you can easily see that.

The macros probably should be raid warnings as well, so they appear in a more visible spot for players.

How far have you progressed in Cataclysm? {WoW}

Feb 25th 2011 3:08PM We're 6/13 25-man HM and working on HM Omnotron atm (although I haven't killed 3 of them on HM personally).

We also have an alt-run that's 11/12. We'll try pulling Nef for the first time today and maybe give HM Atramedes a few pulls.
