Drama Mamas: How to rein in a rules lawyer {WoW}

Aug 9th 2011 11:23AM We did the 2-minute rule around our D&D table and it worked very well. Non-short rules arguments take the oomph out of the action and the tension out of the story. A quick discussion and book-check followed by a ruling from the DM kept the game flowing. We could then get the right of it at our leisure after the game.

The other side of the coin, as MisterRik points out, is that a friendly rules lawyer is invaluable. We had a jovial fellow 'round our table who knew the rules like an encyclopedia. He helped ppl maximize their class abilities and saved the the group a whole heap o' time since we didn't have to look up rules as much.

Breakfast Topic: What addons can you not live without? {WoW}

Jul 19th 2011 9:32AM Huh. It didn't post my whole comment. Well, here's another try. Please feel free to downvote if this comes across as a repeat.

Power Auras for sure. Being able to set easy-to-see notifications that are both important and time-sensitive is invaluable in a raid. In addition, Power Auras provides for handy lower priority notifications in any environment (e.g. buffs, soul stone, chakra). Not to mention the convenience of fight-specific debuffs (love my 'waterlogged' fish).

Big Wigs for raiding. I switched from DBM and am really happy with the switch. I could raid w/o it, but I don't want to. :P

Auctionater is my final must-have. It allows me to significantly cut down my time at the AH and get back to the game. If I had to research and set every single auction for my various alts and all the crap they pick up, I'd spend most of my time in front of that screen rather than out in the world, playing the game.

Other than those three essentials, my UI setup is very important, but I could live w/o it if I had to. Blizz' new raid interface is not bad at all, I must say. I really like grid, though: It's very pure and dependable. Dominos is invaluable for button layout and reclaiming screen real-estate. Oh, and I definitely need to second TitanPanel as a great add-on; everything is one click away, compact and soooo organized!

Some others that I highly value: Gatherer, AtlasLoot (SO MUCH LOOT INFO!), Tidyplates, ForteXorcist, Decursive (an historic workhorse), AdiBags and Altoholic.

Breakfast Topic: What will you do after WoW? {WoW}

Jul 9th 2011 11:59AM I would probably try out some other games, maybe Eve online or something. I'd try harder to get some rpgs going amongst my local friends, maybe get more into Warhammer. Whatever I did, it would be a time-sink until SWTOR comes out.

Gold Capped: How do I make money from alchemy? {WoW}

Jun 28th 2011 10:39AM Really helpful article. I'm leveling an alchemist *as we speak*. OK, it's hard w/ the servers down, but I'll persevere. In any case, I had no idea the undermine journal had so many tools. I've just been looking up prices and price histories for my server, now I can access another level of analysis. Thanks!

Jun 27th 2011 11:45AM Screw 4.2 and 4.3. When is 5.2 dropping? Enquiring minds want to know!

The Queue: Neradnap {WoW}

Jun 7th 2011 2:23PM Thanks. It's good to know that at least some of the patterns and recipes will be available from vendors.

The Queue: Neradnap {WoW}

Jun 7th 2011 11:04AM Will the new professions patterns drop from the raid bosses or will there be some other method of delivery? Also, any information on the drop rate of the living embers required to make the items? I'd guess that it will be one per raid boss per attempt, but I haven't seen that substantiated anywhere.

Thanks!
