Knaak signing at a midnight launch in Arkansas, Blizzard to release audiobooks {WoW}

Nov 11th 2008 4:22PM I've seen Warcraft fanfictions better than Knaak's stuff. Heck, I've WRITTEN Warcraft fanfictions better than Knaak's stuff.

That said, aside from Christie Golden he's all we got. I look forward to her Arthas novel, but 'Day of the Dragon?' Eh. Not so much.

BigRedKitty: An open apology to everybody {WoW}

Nov 8th 2008 10:06PM A "baby tauren" (or "baby anything") run to a capital city is just welcoming a server crash. Players have purposefully done this in the past to protest class changes, for crying out loud. To say you did not know this would happen... especially to a high-pop server like AD (do your homework)... is foolish, and very inconsiderate of the players who call AD home.

I being one of them.

I like your columns, your commentaries, and your videos, but this event should have stayed on YOUR home server. Or at least have the decency to select one of the newer low-pop servers to horse around on.

And to those saying "lighten up" ... the past few weeks, we've all had to deal with more server restarts and crashes and lag than we have in a long time. It's bad enough when a patch or wonky coding ends up crashing a server... there is no reason a player "rally" like this should take place right now, especially on a server that is not the organizer's own.

Wrath or rise of the Which King? {WoW}

Nov 2nd 2008 6:27PM The Witch King is a wee bit older than Arthas, but the likeness in question was first (widely) seen in the 2001 LotR movie. Concepts for the movie go further back than that. Tolkien/LotR artwork goes even further back, and much of that had a heavy influence on production design for the movie, soooo...

Nobody copied anyone. Initially. The two game covers, however, are fairly similar :)

More information about the Wrath of the Lich King midnight launch {WoW}

Oct 30th 2008 4:11PM Gamestop/EB is a vile, vile company.

Thanks to them, I'll likely be playing Wrath at midnight... on 11/17.

Official class forums to be replaced with role forums [UPDATED x2] {WoW}

Oct 30th 2008 3:53PM As others have said, this will be a severe blow to any class-specific questing or crafting or basically ANYTHING that is nuanced about a given class.

I know my warrior would not care about who is running the numbers on Consecrate, nor would my hunter want to hear about how Ice Block is getting nerfed...

Sadly this is what happens when you do not have specific class designers or even advocates, but instead designers that handle all (or a large portion of) classes at one time. GC is a good guy and I have heaps of respect for him, but having a Hunter class designer, a Shaman class designer, and so on, all working together to create the game.. while also doing everything they can to make their specific class the best it can be.. would not be a terrible thing.

Ezra Chatterton passes away {WoW}

Oct 23rd 2008 7:28PM Rest in peace, Ezra.

Arcane Brilliance: On Deep Freeze {WoW}

Oct 4th 2008 8:50PM Actually, I'm a Beast Mastery hunter, and many of us are unhappy with the 51 point talent.

Frost Mages, imagine if not only your 51 point talent but also your 45 point 5/5 talent both only increased the power of your Water Elemental. That's what Beast Mastery has.

Extra talent points... they allow us to pick up a little extra in our pet trees, but that further complicates our pet micromanagement and, again, does nothing for our own DPS if our pet buys the farm.

BigRedKitty: Gorilladin {WoW}

Sep 27th 2008 1:58PM I'm also wondering about that Tier 5 benefit, which will either see some reduced functionality past level 70 or will be retooled to prevent its use on through to 80. Not to mention the amount of players who simply do not have it.

So, how much is the T5 really helping? And more over, shouldn't a WotLK Beast Mastery talent provide this benefit for ALL hunters? Beta players, get those suggestions to Blizz rolling!

WoW Insider Interview: PopCap's T. Carl Kwoh and Moongaze, maker of the Bejeweled addon {WoW}

Sep 25th 2008 9:52AM Hats off to PopCap for realizing the fan-made mod was awesome, regardless of its use of their IP. Most companies will gleefully send a Cease & Desist to mod-makers (I can't count how many Halo, Aliens/Predators, Ghostbusters, and related mods have been terminated by corporate goons) instead of embracing their efforts. Kudos to PopCap for not lowering the boom on this fellow. :)

"Tigole Deep-Breaths more" {WoW}

Sep 21st 2008 4:23PM Tigole was either letting off steam, or making an example of the "trolls." Either way, he should leave the moderating to the moderators.

If he wants to stop by to give an update to the community, fine, but don't play forum police. Especially when you have forum police already in place. You're a developer for crying out loud.

The "this game won't be ready for launch" must have hit a sore spot. I wonder if Blizz really *is* compromising on their quality standards to get Wrath out sooner.
