Mar 1st 2008 3:04AM I have serious doubts about the viability and longevity of this, essentially its poking its face into the same competitive space as Quake Wars and Unreal Tournament 3. Ouch.
While WoW has imported the popular formats of these games into battlegrounds already they lack the breadth, pace and skill base of these games. Its cost is much higher and it lacks the single most important feature that gives these games their lifespan, user generated content.
Feb 22nd 2008 1:37PM I don't believe that taxes could ever be an issue in WOW because Blizzards owns everything, the gold, the items and the characters. We are just moving their property about with their permission there is no real trade or exchange going on.
Jan 12th 2008 3:06AM I am all for debuffs on honor leaches and regularly report people AFKing for any reason, I don't care if its the loo or to answer the phone.
But this sounds way too draconian to me, formal warnings and 'account suspensions!'? A one hour deserter debuff yeah fine, negative honor accrual great. But this is too far IMO so I for one have reported my last AFKer for now unfortunately.
Dec 23rd 2007 4:21AM I would hope at some point they will rescale the loot and difficulty of ZG, AQ and Nax, (scholomance and strat too) to make the content worthwhile and accessible again. I would guess this was not done at the release of BC to encourage the sale of BC boxes, the same may be true of Lich king.
We don't really know what will kill off WOW, but it will be something the publishers can do nothing about, be it circumstance, greed or ignorance. Because with the revenue stream of WOW only a foolish publisher would let it fall by the wayside.
Dec 7th 2007 5:37AM As a customer I would look upon anything a CEO says with a skeptical eye. Ultimately their position in the company is for the purpose of maximizing revenues for directors and shareholders. They are a customers adversary not their friend no matter how much you like their product.
There are some good points raised on both sides of the argument here but I guess as with most things only time will tell. However their very first measurable action was to slap the Blizzard name onto the Activision label suggesting an attempt to blend brand names of a different quality without an appropriate reflection in the company structure. Not a good start IMO.
Nov 23rd 2007 2:46AM Why is it taking so long to patch this bug? It sounds like a one line fix that could be rapidly implemented tested and rolled out in the earliest maintenance cycle.
This is a god send for gold scammers to heist resources and affect lots of players.
Oct 13th 2007 11:27AM It is interesting reading the interview especially in its tone, I don't get the feeling that the author has any real affinity for the lore, community or the experience.
The comic does however look competently assembled, although the general impression is that it is 'alliance-centric' it appears to be going for traditional themes and should be a decent read as long as the character development works well. Personally though I think I will stick with Equinox for the time being :)
Oct 5th 2007 1:54PM I find it a bit ironic that they are giving away a surround sound system after the 2.2 patch :D
Sep 20th 2007 2:52PM Congratulations on this post another top video beautifully executed, I'm off to download a copy so I have it for good.
Sep 16th 2007 1:22PM This one is a real visual gem, probably one of the best post processing jobs I've seen of wow footage.
I would guess that the footage has had a lot of work done on it in something like FXHome, Combustion or After Effects where saturation and hue has been filtered, soft glow added and atmospheric elements have been introduced as separate video layers. The whole thing works very well together with the audio.
Great work, I just wish there was a story to it, it has the feeling of a movie.
