Enter to win a $5k Dell WoW Edition notebook {WoW}

Dec 14th 2007 9:45PM For the Horde!

Season 3 Arena equipment change stops ratings abuse {WoW}

Dec 11th 2007 8:35PM I have not stared arenas yet, but I am in the BG grind for S1 gear. I have to agree with some posters who hate this "welfare epic" term, because it's used by whiners who are crying because everyone has the gear they think they deserve a pizza trophy for obtaining before everyone else. PvP rewards are not hard to get, I will grant you that, but they are not finger snapping easy either, you still have to spend hours/days/weeks/months in the same 4 BG's just to get enough honor, and after two weeks of casual (that's the daily and maybe 3-4 games, more on weekends) I've only gotten my helm, gloves, and shiv from S1. Don't get me wrong, I like PvP and it's a welcome break from PvE grinds and PuG's, but seriously, this is just like cell phones, the latest and greatest are snapped up by people who want to be the "cool kids" with the best gadget, and then 1-2 years later the same models are being sold for free with new service plans, because the next line is up for sale.

Hands on with the Dell XPS WoW laptop {WoW}

Dec 11th 2007 3:54PM I would take just the laptop itself if it meant paying 1.5k or less for it, all the extra stuff is nice but since I have no gaming laptop, it would not be a bad laptop for a more modest price by itself. I wonder if Dell plans to sell them solo at some point?

Course the other problem is I don't want to buy another Dell. Wish someone like HP made this.

Gamer Interrupted: Duos are good for relationships {Massively}

Dec 10th 2007 5:27PM I admit to being a Power Gamer myself, as growing up it was always my goal in any game to beat it. Only when I delved into the world of RPG's starting with Final Fantasy VII and Pokemon in the late 90's did I really start to realize that some games are meant to explore and do many other things besides just getting to the end.

My ex-girlfriend was the one to introduce me to the terrible world of Blizzard games starting with Starcraft, which consumed most of our duo-gaming back then, to be later claimed by Ragnarok Online. World of Warcraft came after we broke up a year and a half ago, a game which I initially swore off because the guy she more or less cheated on me for played it, often using my computer which I had nothing but contempt for. Another good friend of mine however convinced me to play and sure enough I started playing and after a few hiatuses I have a 70 Rogue Horde-side.

I got my current girlfriend into playing WoW with me, but admitingly after farming or grinding on my main, I often don't want to play my alts, which is why we can never play with just us. At some point I want to correct this, but since she doesn't play that much because of work, I still end up playing mostly by myself anyway.

Breakfast Topic: What RL sacrifices have you made for WoW? {WoW}

Dec 10th 2007 4:49PM Can't say I've sacrificed a whole lot for WoW having not gotten to raiding yet, been playing for a year and a half and hit 70 a few weeks ago. I'll stay up some nights to grind out honor or mats but I have not called out of work or skipped family functions, there aren't many of those as my parents are divorced and do their own things, sister in college, and family lives in the midwest where I am in the northeast.

I did lose a girlfriend over computer/internet/gaming but she was already cheating on me anyway, so no loss. New girlfriend is much more computer/internet/gaming friendly and as long as she gets sex, I get WoW. Everyone wins.

Analysis: Is the WoW laptop worth it? {WoW}

Dec 6th 2007 3:46PM I'm surprised no one has pointed out the fact that it is Dell, the very same company whose customer service has been lukewarm at best in the past five years, has bouts of hardware failures (two of mine, dead within 2 years of purchase) and overall, in my opinion, just doesn't care about its consumer line of notebooks. Now I could be wrong, given the fact that you are giving them 4500 for this notebook they'll probably kiss your ass until the protection plan is up, but you'll have to wade through their terrible tech support system and techs who don't even know what their own system's flashing lights mean for error codes. If you got 4500 to burn, buy a better laptop and customize it, or buy a hell of a desktop and customize that. Hell, 4500 could build you a custom case that looks like a Blood Elf or whatever.

Free transfers live from a few realms {WoW}

Dec 5th 2007 10:17PM I was hoping for Greymane to anywhere, I want to find a new home for my old nelf from yesteryear that isn't there. Heh.

A formal pronouncement of (ingame) marriage {WoW}

Nov 29th 2007 10:13PM Meh, Ragnarok Online had that whole marriage thing you can do complete with the dress and all that, used to always get the /tells in Prontera with stabbymcstabs is to wed merchantczar or something stupidly similar. The concept is cute, but it just doesn't gel with a game like World of Warcraft unless you're on the RP servers, and even then it's still silly.

PvP spending questions: Value vs. Cost vs. Time {WoW}

Nov 27th 2007 12:50PM For me, who just kinda started BG PvP at 70 (I did some back at 29 and 39 but it was only for a couple of pieces I wanted to fill other empty places) I've been grinding out honor just to get some S1 pieces. I have enough going into today for at least one piece, and about 5k from a second. My reason for wanting S1 is to get a start into more serious BG PvP and Arena PvP in order to get the higher stuff, as well as be a bit more geared for getting my D3 rogue set for PvE.

So my question is more like, what item to buy /right now/ heh
