Nov 5th 2011 2:32PM I have a theory on Pet Battles: I think they're going to be available from portable devices; iPhone, Android, etc. People have talked about more offline content for WoW for years, and Pet Battles seems like the perfect way to introduce something that can have an effect in-game, without requiring the full client.
Oct 30th 2011 8:39PM I wonder if the Dev team has read Neal Stephenson's new book "Reamde" and what they think of his "improvements" to WoW. What's particularly relevant to the Pandaren is that the players of the MMORPG "T'Rain" have broken away from the two factions the game had set up for them, and formed two new factions, based on aesthetics and values. WoW is hard-coded to prevent this from happening, but it sounds like a fascinating direction to take future games.
Apr 6th 2011 4:06PM The idea of memories and dreams being recorded and sold as entertainment goes much further back in Science Fiction than the Twilight Zone episode you cite. I remember in particular a book called Hyacinths by Chelsea Quinn Yarbrow and I think an Isaac Asimov short story that both had as the side effects of the process creeping insanity and general societal breakdown.
I agree with your analysis of the multiple reasons why the movie failed at the box office. I was certainly blown away by it at the time, but find it difficult to watch now. Parts of it seem trite, while others are needlessly brutal. There's too many movies going on at once. (And Juliette Lewis is awful in all of them.)
Apr 3rd 2011 9:36PM It seems to me like Blizzard is setting up something like a "Shadow Horde" where each race has a faction that could either split off or is already split off from the Horde:
Orcs: Garrosh/Thrall loyalists
Tauren: Baine loyalists/Grimtotem
Forsaken: Sylvanas/Forsaken opposed to the Valkyr (The remnants of the Royal Apothecary Society could fall on either side here)
Goblins: Anyone who's played through the Goblin starting area knows that it wouldn't take much to create an anti-Gallywix faction.
and now the Trolls- I could see a good chunk of the Darkspear deciding that the Zandalari have the right idea.
The Blood Elves don't seem to have this kind of tension, but I could easily be missing something.
I don't know where it's going, but it seems to be more than just coincidence. On the Alliance side, there are some similar tensions, particularly among the dwarves, and I suppose you could look at Stormwind/Defias tensions that way, but it doesn't seem nearly as pronounced.
Mar 25th 2011 9:36PM Does anyone know if the level 85 questing areas in Stranglethorn will have Cataclysm herb and mining nodes?
Mar 22nd 2011 11:29AM Speaking of Faction Leaders, will there be an "Ask a Faction Leader" any time soon? I love that feature!
Jan 28th 2011 9:33AM Based on the wording, I have to believe that Kindle books "sold" includes books with a price of $0.00. Certainly Amazon treats these like sales from the end-user perspective - you get the same "Your recent Amazon Order" email.
Jan 13th 2011 11:40AM "I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I want to look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this.
Dec 31st 2010 4:10PM I'm authentic.
Dec 8th 2010 11:15AM Are there any Chrome web apps that mimic Sage for FireFox? It's really the one thing that's keeping me from switching.
