Apr 2nd 2011 8:29PM I don't seem to get your point - becuase a movie/book with the subject matter of the holocaust is made and the main actress wins an Oscar (the movie itself didn't) then it is o.k to use it as "common parlance"
If your refering to the term "Sophies Choice" used as a common idiom, that it is true but it's use is to refer to a tragic choice between two unbearable outcomes.
This article does not fit the idiom

Apr 2nd 2011 6:29PM I am disgusted you have used a reference to Sophies Choice in picking the best "April Fools" moment. The title of the book/movie comes from when being unloaded in Auschwitz, the Nazi death camp, Sophie was asked to choose which of her children would live and which would die. When she was unable to choose, a Nazi officer said both would be sent to die, so she chose one of them, Jan, to survive.
This is offensive in the extreme to use this reference so flippantly
