Aug 20th 2008 6:30PM People seem to come back time and again to this "Oh noes, DKs all over the place" thing, but somehow noone reaches the conclusion that was observed during TBC with blood elves and draenei. Somehow, these two aren't swarming everywhere around this time and indeed weren't so popular at level 70. It's not going to be much different with DKs. A lot of people will only roll one to check the questline out, or will get bored of Outland and go right for Northrend.
Aug 17th 2008 8:22AM The same old. DK alt later on when Zark is 80.
Aug 14th 2008 7:37PM Spoilers if you care, but.
You'd get accepted even if you were a mage. Malygos is either recruiting or killing off mages, basically a join-or-suffer/die situation for a lot of them. In fact, there are mage traitors from the Horde, Alliance and Kirin'Tor allied with Blues.
Personally I don't mind. Nice to see more NPCs that make you go "Hey, I know something about that one", even if Rhonin was over the top in WotA. But the whole WotA was quite a stretch.
Aug 14th 2008 9:30AM I probably had a dream that I got the beta key, managed to get my account beta'd, but the dream was over before I could log in.
Had a few disappointing dreams like those from time to time.
Well, at least the having beta access bit came true...
I also dreamt of going on a flight path tour through something that I recognized as Azjol-Nerub, but what was not Azjol-Nerub at all. It was much like semi-Troll, semi-Egyptian architecture up close and a load of pyramids from a distance - if you've seen Daft Punk's Technologic music video, it was a similar impression - only without the centerpiece and everything was a shade of purple instead of red.
I eventually reached my destination at some kind of (closed?) Dark Portal-esque area in the huge enclosure that was "A-N", surrounded by Horde and Alliance NPCs (some of them upscaled like giants IIRC). They were fending off anything that came too close - and there was a bit of trash around.
The dream ended around there.
Aug 12th 2008 9:02PM The most amusing thing this change has spawned is the countless "how do i get into dalaran ??" questions in all General channels of Northrend.
It's getting annoying to the point of this question being the Northrend version of "where is mankrik's wife". I'll be fair and say I didn't know myself at first, though, and asked the question as well.
Thanks for posting this, though, maybe there'll be less of the questions.
Aug 10th 2008 5:34PM Thassarian is an Alliance questgiver in Northrend. Koltira Deathweaver is a Horde questgiver in Northrend, as well. The Lich King appears frequently in Northrend. Gothik the Harvester, Noth the Plaguebringer - both make an appearance as questgivers near Acherus for DKs, but end up as Naxx bosses again.
Remember - when you're a fledgling DK is long before when you're a DK in Northrend, so in that time things can change.
So, it's not unlikely Rivendare abandons post in Stratholme and heads out to Naxxramas to fill in as a Horseman.
Aug 10th 2008 11:11AM Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh and Netherstorm are my favourites.
They do have one thing in common that annoys me, though. They're extremely monothematic when it comes to color. All you see in HFP is some kind of red, Zangarmarsh - blue, Netherstorm - purple. It really irritates the eye after a while and after a few hours of Netherstorm my head was filled with "OH GOD IT'S ALL PURPLE AHHGG".
However, HFP as an introductory zone does really well. It's atmospheric - a barren wasteland where the Horde and Alliance are beset by the Legion on all sides, there's a nice epic feel to it. It's less evident in the later regions, sadly.
Aug 2nd 2008 8:21AM Nature's Guidance, Totemic Mastery... one by one, all my reasons to put remaining points in Resto have been obliterated, leaving me free to boost by DPS by 1% with Elemental talents. Whee.
Not having to spend a talent on proper totem range is awesome.
