BigRedKitty: Karazhan for Hunter-Dummies {WoW}

Oct 3rd 2007 7:23PM Um, sorry BRK, but you CAN hunter mark the Astral Flares in the Curator event. I do it all the time.

/target astral flare
/cast hunter's mark
/startattack
/cast arcane shot

That's my macro. My guild won't let me send the pet in due to the chain lightning so I hide him in a corner and fire like mad.

WoW 2.2 Mac client in-game video capture {WoW}

Sep 25th 2007 1:43PM The big reason that Macs get this feature first is something built into OS X called "core video" which essentially builds video capture and offloads processing power to the GPU to allow for real time video capture. Windows simply doesn't have this feature built in at the OS level... and probably never will, or at least never will to the same extent that OS X will have it.

Macs are video editing machines at the very core. I'm a video editor at a post production facility in Seattle. Our editing is either done on OS X machines running Final Cut Pro or it's done on super high end SGI systems running Linux. Windows just is designed with this level of video functionality built in.

The Blizzard guys would have to write some video capture and encoding software from scratch or purchase/license technology from somewhere else to accomplish the same level of functionality in the Windows version of WoW. It's not a matter of "fairness". From a development point of view... OS X simply has features built in to accommodate video capture without having to write capture software from scratch.

Simple as that.
