All the World's a Stage: Joining the right circle {WoW}
Mar 31st 2008 10:21AM I'm on Steamwheedle Cartel, and I see random RP every day. Even so, the ooc channel is far and away busier than the ic.
I think one part is the misconception of how it's done. You don't need to talk like "Verily, thou hast reason to deem her words doggerel. Prithee." unless you are playing someone who talks funny. You just immerse in the world. As an avid RPer, I play on my server because I don't feel like hearing about pop culture, world news, US politics, what you're having for dinner, or the horrible drama between you and your babysitter. I like to escape that sort of thing.
The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Because they're awesome {WoW}

Amen. I have three.
Breakfast Topic: Does WoW ever make you feel old? {WoW}
Nov 15th 2007 10:30AM Oh my god I remember the cellulite ogres! I kind of liked them better, they were so hideous it made me giggle.
I remember waaaaay back, might have been beta?wandering around into a cave in Dustwallow with 4 friends, and defeating some huge black dragon that dropped no loot and had a really basic attack pattern. Proto-Ony! Sadly, I haven't had the chance to fight her since then.
The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Leveling Up 1-20 {WoW}

Very nice but I have one small point...
"6. Don't worry about gear. Seriously. Unless you're a war, you can pretty much spank all the content thrown at you wearing nothing but a gray linen loincloth. Your money is better spent on netherweave bags"
- We're talking about warriors here. :)
Breakfast Topic: Where My Altaholics At? {WoW}
Nov 1st 2007 10:06AM My sub-60 alts are on hold ANYWAY right now while I focus on my warrior for a bit, so the timing is just fine. I'm holding out not because of the faster leveling, but because I have quite a few right at Dustwallow level and they live in Ratchet (RP, yay!) and I want them to explore the new content.

Hi! I've got multi-server alt-oholism too, but it would be great to "see" you again.
Sorry for the spam, everyone.

Another way to get started with roleplaying {WoW}
Oct 24th 2007 5:45PM I remember there was a lot on Steamwheedle Cartel when it first opened, but it's harder to find now. I think it's a natural server age problem. Finding a good heavy RP guild helps.
For my characters It has been closer to the first way. I pick one moment, and build on that. It can be something that has already happened (for Dulcet, a lost shipment) or something that the character really wants to happen (Deathany, undead priest, won't feel like a REAL priest until she has been ordained in Stormwind Cathedral.)
For me, tying it to a moment instead of a full backstory keeps me flexible and helps my characters integrate better with other characters' storylines. My backstories develop from my interactions with other characters.
WoW knows no age {WoW}
Oct 19th 2007 3:48PM My mother plays. She's 80. She's got two hunters (1 horde, 1 alliance) bank alts for each, prefers to solo, and almost quit the game once when someone called her a n00b. She's been a gamer since the early 1970s.
In my guild, I am in about the upper fifth age-wise, at 39. We have at least one grandfather/grandson combo.
Ask WoW Insider: Far from home {WoW}
Sep 28th 2007 5:10PM I just ran up to level 5 the old-fashioned way with my gnome rogue, then made the run to Menethil... picking up the LM flight point on the way. The gators got me a couple of times, but that's okay. Then on to Darnassus, set your hearth there, then run off to the crash site. You don't get the starting quest, but getting a bit done in Thelsamar ahead of time helps offset that. Good luck!
