Mage buffs on the horizon {WoW}

Nov 8th 2007 3:05AM *sigh*

Ice Block is not a deep frost talent. Thats like saying Presence of Mind is a deep arcane talent.

To the warlocks complaining about this. What is wrong with you? Unable to get a free kill against arc/fire mages anymore? Boo hoo, so now you might need to make an effort to kill those specs.

Mana shield really, really sucks.

"IB should definately count as a dispell so that UA can provide that burst damage."
Um, no. UA causes damage to the dispeller, right? So, that would cause damage to the mage... who is immune to all damage because he Ice Blocked.

"Granted, my gear is bad, but a frost mage who's well geared can still 3 shot me. "
What did you expect? A mage to have difficulty killing you when he severely outgears you?

And a question to the hunters: Since when did you people actually have trouble against mages?

Oct 9th 2007 7:32AM Priests, not much of a change.

Paladins seem very excited, as do some shamans I know...

Priests still need some more love, imo. They seem... well, a little lacklustre compared to other classes.
This will help... a bit.

Oct 9th 2007 7:28AM Ooooh, thats a nice idea. Tailors can repair cloth... leather fixes leather...

Very neat idea... but... it kills an engineering thing. I love that repair bot.

And please, please buff LW? Pleeeeeezzz?

My GL won't stop crying about her wasted profession.

Oct 9th 2007 7:04AM 30 Spell Penetration should be the target for PvP.

Why? It annoys druids. That alone makes it worth it.

Not only that, but it's so easy to get 30 of it.

PvP ring + cloak enchant = done. Now, go get 300 resilience :p

Oct 9th 2007 6:53AM Now make mana gems cost less, give more, and be tradeable.

Then add a mana well, where everyone can click and get one.

Then, I will have no more gripes about a mages extraneous abilities.

Regular maintenance for US realms this week {WoW}

Oct 9th 2007 6:51AM Heh, about a month ago, me and some buddies had a LAN party.

We spent most of the day playing C&C, Unreal, and some other shooters (FEAR, Counterstrike, etc)

We decided to wrap up the night with some casual WoW-time.

Imagine our surprise, upon logging in, to discover we had 10 minutes before an 8 hour shutdown.

We had to make a late-night run for redbull to get us through and old school starcraft marathon instead ^_^

Arcane Brilliance: Should I roll a mage? {WoW}

Oct 9th 2007 6:48AM I have one thing to point out in addition to Samus's post.

The key difference between the type of damage mages and hunter/warlocks can dish out, is that the hunter/lock types are "boss dps". Mages are "trash dps"

Boss DPS - low burst damage, high consistent, over time damage.

Trash DPS - Very high burst damage, lower consistent damage, able to mow down many foes at once.

All those trash pulls in instances, this is where mages are better than anyone else in the raid.

As an easy example, picture one of those hordes of skeletons in Shadow Labyrinth.
A mage can drop all of them in (my experience) 5-8 seconds.

As a general rule, whenever AoE's are called for, or a single (non-boss) target needs to be taken down rapidly, this is where mages perform better than hunter/locks.

Major Alterac Valley changes coming to Patch 2.3 {WoW}

Oct 5th 2007 5:11AM Thus, the age of Honor Farming comes to an end.

No more will players be able to gain 9k honor in one day without really putting in any effort.

Finally PvP gear will start to gain a little of the prestige that they had in the old days, under the old honor system.
