Why Blizzard can't (and won't) sell gold {WoW}

Mar 4th 2010 6:14PM agree Rift.

The cynic in me suggests that the reason Blizzard won't do this is because someone else thought of it first and they dont want to be seen as a follower...

Why Blizzard can't (and won't) sell gold {WoW}

Mar 4th 2010 6:00PM This brings up an intresting question.... could the be done now in trade?

Selling one 30 day game extention card for 20000 gold.

Blizzard make it very clear that you cannot sell in game items or characters for real money but does the reverse apply? Can you use in game money to buy out of world items??

Why Blizzard can't (and won't) sell gold {WoW}

Mar 4th 2010 5:49PM Your comparions between selling gold and the beta is a little weak. People could 'make' as much money as they wanted on the beta with no cost to them.

If they bought gold then it would cost them real money everytime they wanted to 'make' money. in order to influnece the gold reserves of a server you would have to have alot od people shelling out a lot of real money which most gamers don't have the means to do.

Also Eve got around this issue by selling 'plex' a 30 day game extention token that could be sold on the AH.

Thier purpose is to exhange game money between people who are time rich by real money poor (usually people at school) and people who are real money rich but time poor (casual gamers, usually people who work full time) It allows casuals to get to get in to better ships and compete with others (in wow terms, the casual player can finnally get that epic mount)

EVE actually have an economist working for them to manage things like in game inflation. One of the great things they do is thety give you a token to sell on the AH rather than gold (ISK). This way if lots of people buy these tokens they will flood the market and the price will come down. The token you buy is subject to market forces and is brought from money already in the economy rather than being made.

It's a good system and Blizzard could implement it.

The Daily Quest: The Lunar Festival {WoW}

Feb 17th 2010 4:32PM yes i am seeing that in heroics too. I queued the relevant dungeons to get the elders but i finshed each one. its not cool to ditch a group half way through. Those that did leave found a quick way to my cross server ignore list

The Daily Quest: The Lunar Festival {WoW}

Feb 16th 2010 10:31PM if you are a healer or a tank try ticking the dungeons with the elders in the RDF then list your self as DPS. You will get about 10-15 mins between each dungeon which is plenty of time for you to pick of a few elders on horseback.

Also elders of the horde are quiet easy because they are near entrances and they are all in areas where not many players go.

Star Trek Online official dev blog: Jeremy Mattson page 2 {Massively}

Jan 25th 2010 6:51PM I can see where Bryan is coming from. I love the star trek univese and all the stories that it contains. I would like to see more of that come out.

I would for instance like to be able to talk an orion down from a fight once in awhile.

But we have to start somewhere and I like where they have started. I will continue to play the game when it launches and give feedback and await future patches where they can start adding this stuff in. Thats the great thing about these games, as long as we continue to subscribe they will add new content and fix stuff.
