Feb 2nd 2012 2:01AM Ugh, I hope not. All the goku wannabes are bad enough as it is. It'll be nightelf mohawk all over again, only they won't be removing it.
Feb 1st 2012 8:19AM I don't think it failed. It was meant to slow down gear, and make raiding harder as a result. It succeed perfectly. It was the side-effect that was the flop: People stopped caring. That was the fail.
Said it before, will say it again: There is a world of difference between difficulty, and tedium. Bosses can be hard(provied hard is not "You randomly die, hahaha" or "You coughed at the wrong time? Delete you from life!"), but trash should be so easy it's cringe worthy. That's where the socialising and jokes happen.
Jan 31st 2012 8:43PM I don't know about raiding, but the 5-man stuff has been more fun. Stopped on the priest and went back to shaman, though - not that priest isn't fun, it's just that shaman is more, for me, and I have years with her. Seems like a case of "System is decent, but the fights don't work with it well" from what I've heard, though.
Jan 30th 2012 8:56AM Overgearing isn't an issue. Lack of threat control is. If you have to auto attack the whole way because the guy is a fresh tank, then you auto attack the whole time. It's never okay to think it's their fault for not being overgeared, and I see that way to much.
Similar idea of an undergeared healer or dps with a tank who normally has better: Your job is to adjust to the group, not make them adjust to you.
Obvious exception to people who simply can't do it, of course, but there's a huge diff between "takes longer" and "not happening".

The part where you said "Well played". Generally, they are not, at least in my experience. A good DK is amazing, mostly because it becomes a run with 4dps and they deal with the healing, but they are the exceptions I mentioned.
Jan 28th 2012 8:59AM "tank come here". Replace tank with healer, priest, gnome, etc. People have names. Use them.
People who make obscure abbreviations when there's an already established one, like "TETK" for Tempest Keep, or abbreviations of abbreviation. "BL" is not an acceptable shortening of "BWL".
People who end sentences with "lol". I hate that word at the best of times, but just use the bloody period button - it's faster, so you should be dry humping that thing given how you normally type. I can let a lot of english fubars go - not amazing myself - but this one.. this is rage inducing.
"Draenei Warlock" "Night elf Shaman" "Horde Humans". These people should be stabbed in the face.
People who play Goblins.
"It's my $15, I can be bad if I want too. Carry me." Okay, I'm paraphrasing but you know what I mean.
"Quick run, gogogogo". If you don't have time, don't sign up. Learn to people. (Irony, amazing).
" is a new pvp raiding guild with bank tab and repiears and vent and a site with free guild tabad!!! pst if you want invite or hang out or stuff. p.s i'm not fourteen!!!lolpeace". It's even worse when it's spread over two lines. I appreciate your effort, but if you can proof check and condense your macro, give up and save everyone a headache.
Dk tanks. There are exceptions, but oh me oh my, that's a terrible start to a run.
Pali tanks who cast while being hit. I used to be a paladin tank, so this is particularity painful.
Not relevant anymore, but back in bc, paladin tanks who used healing gear. Not tank gear with int, heal gear.
Goblin dk tanks.
Jan 24th 2012 11:58AM Draenei Warlocks.
Anyone who attempts to argue for their existence doesn't know anything about the Draenei and should be shush.
There's a lot of race/class combo's that can kind-of work, but only as one-off exception based heroes, not for player classes(like human druid - there's no reason a human can't, but they'll be the outliers, not the majority[which is the unchangeable player demographic])
Jan 24th 2012 8:25AM You aren't rolling for one of three [Mace of Hurt]s though, you're rolling for a [Mace of Hurt] or a [Mace of Hurt] or a [Mace of Hurt]. As silly as that last bit sounds, it's a very important difference. It's like a celebrity tossing out novelty hats at a concert - you don't toss one and then go "Oh, well you two were the next closest, so you get the other two". You give each hat it's own "chance to win" event. Loot works the same way. Each item is a chance. It's like those people that see "1% chance to drop", kill the boss 100 times, and then complain that the item didn't drop - chance doesn't work like that.
Chances are they're using something like:
while(item is being rolled for)
When(a player rolls)
if(current player roll > last player roll)
remember current player
if(current player roll = last player roll)
remember both players
if(two players remembered)
reroll player one
reroll player two
if(player one roll > player two roll)
give item to player one
give item to player two
give item to highest roll player
//Coders: I'm sorry, it hurt me too.
If they were to put all the rolls into one pool, they would have to store that data. not a big deal for a small number of rolls, but when you consider how many would be needed at once, it's a big deal. It's one of those tiny until it's in a mmo details.
Jan 24th 2012 8:07AM Smite, easily. There's not even a contest there. One of the best characters, voices and fights(however easy) all in one? That's like time-lord enforced winning there.
Second for me are actually still in the game, but I don't see them anymore - the fighting belf and draenei that moved from shat to dal. They were always amusing.
Third is the little gnome that turned the lights on in dal.
... and I just realised why I didn't like the cata "world" much.. thanks, I'm gonna go be depressed about that again for a while.
Jan 10th 2012 2:48AM For me it's more an issue of I want the "real" thing, not the impression. I don't particularly like profanity, but if someone is going to use it, make it the actual, y'know? It's like saying "little fella" when you mean "penis" - it has a name, we all know it, use it properly.
