A close look at the new changes to Bloodlust and Heroism {WoW}

Mar 3rd 2008 7:51PM Doubtful as those are both party buffs, but why anyone would want to swing so fast that they out aggro the tank and have to basically loose the buff's beneficial time limitations, actually looks like blizzard is helping people to understand that burst damage is good, but in the long run not effective (boss fights aren't your standard 2 minute 5-man fights).

also with that much drop would be about 45% and so close to the 1 second GCD from bloodlust alone, stacking it any further isn't all that productive, especially with how haste seems to be the get some stat of 2.4.

What are heroics for? {WoW}

Jan 26th 2008 9:13PM Dragonblight US would never tolerate this in a PUG, though it might in a Guild only run.

Are you an addon addict? {WoW}

Jan 23rd 2008 5:54PM only 200 directories, but then, it grows and dies as new addons come out. still haven't foun a good discord replacement. and damn so many fubar and titan plugins

AddOn Spotlight: Ace {WoW}

Jan 13th 2008 9:51PM the problem with Ace is exactly what it means. the reliance on teh ACE library code, and the requirement that it meet the specifications of WOW. Amazingly ACE is pretty fast at updating, pretty much daily, but this works two ways, both that it updates fast and is usually less broken when patches happen, but also that some addons (OMEN) are so updated that they loose backwards compatability and force re downloading every update where as some people especially in a lot of the screenshots use trinketmenu and titan which is so far out of date yet still work effectively.

Also with Ace comes certain elitism, like the previous poster in which they only go for Ace addons, and more than not miss out on a lot of other addons that are available.

not withstanding the great Fubar/Titan Debate, but going to the ACE website there is a list of ace addons that "mimic" previously created/current mods. so there is a chance the "efficiency" you mentioned can be achieved via the list. sometimes these are better as original, sometimes better as aced up, but mostly it's more of what can ace beat blizzard to the punch.

Jan 12th 2008 7:44PM in responce to amasen and to all others reading.

The next question is when will finality set in, according to Blizzard as reported on near every site is that patch 2.4 is teh final patch, then comes Wrath, even if there's minor patches, there will be no season 5. This means the LAST season to hit BGs will be season 2. and out of that comes 2 facts. WotLK greens will destroy it, and probably season 3 epics as well. so this means that it's about progression which usually dies like a snowball in hell when a final patch is announced or whether people believe the gear will be useful.

and even then, the arena system:
is it worth it to even bother getting season 4 gear?

we all know marks were destroyed as EXP in BC, and thus were trash - to be converted into currency. but what about arena points? surely season 4 will no where be as good as season 5 as season 5 will be the "katrazhan level" of WotLK. would it be wiser to save up for when you hit 80? and laugh at all the crap loot in the instances of northrend and be able to have the gear to try to steal a wrlds first? sure there's a cap on arena points, but not enough to stop having more than adequate gear to only have to get gear from the standard amount of running leveling instances to get to 80. and if not, will it be worth it to PVP more than instance? or pull the "welfare" epic as by 80, dialy quests are gonna be raking in the gold, and you can reset your team to 1500 and loose 10 a week to 1400 each week for points while barely even taking a hit to the cash flow like it currently is.

Hopefully these points are brought to blizzard's attention, or we will see just how prepared they are for WotLK

Jan 12th 2008 7:08PM it's a step, but the main point was AV was 40 people, the chances of being spotted, with out mods was slim. now with mods that auto report, its become far more known. and just as widespread, but this doesn't really help. The problem is it takes almost no effot in AV to get honor, even on a non holiday AV game it still beats holiday AB, EOTS and WSG is almost never any honor.

hopefully thanks to the mods, the game gets better, but they will still do it. and it's gonna be rampant

next patch (2.4) as season 2 beats kara and all the newbies will just goto BGs for the easy epics. and it's obvious Blizzard knows it as the new dungon is only supposed to be as hard as SL or SH and gives kara or better loot. welcome to the bginning of content not worth doing.

til then, let's hope people reform.

Totem Talk: We were not prepared {WoW}

Jan 12th 2008 3:33PM You missed 2 great Buffs: Bloodlust and Earth shock rank1 - Bloodlust is great for raid and party DPS, and Rank 1 ES now costs basically nothing due to natural mana regen and that it's still almost always hits. only problem I have with shamans at the moment is the 2 spells we get in BC we can't use in the arena - earth and fire elemental totem. every other class can use thiers, but we can't. the other nerfs that weren't mentioned: Wrath of Air Totem should ahve been wrath of fire, but then that 41 elemental totem would be useless, though a oomkin gives a better aura than it. at least Watershield is getting buffed to apparently godly results soon, but as it is now it's already a little too powerful.Here's hoping this year that they give us some more love like they finally did this last patch.

Breakfast Topic: Alterac Valley, day one {WoW}

Jan 12th 2008 3:08PM AV is about a 6 minute wait whereas AB and EOTS is taking about 20 minutes now, at least it means The elemental totems see more use, but still, the thing I miss most of AV is seeing people with that goblin shredder toy - is it even possible to get it anymore?
