Feb 5th 2009 11:17AM Wait..what? "Give holy priests a definitive spot in raid groups"? If you, or your raid, don't think they have a definitive spot, which other class can heal Patchwerk's Hateful Strikes as well as Loatheb's raid-wide damage with equally successful effectiveness. If your Holy Priests can't, then as someone suggested above, a trip to the PlusHeal forums just might be in order.
Feb 2nd 2009 6:28PM In fact, Mark, I make VERY sure that game sounds are either inaudible, or barely audible, over Vent. Primarily, I use game sounds to alert me to events I need to respond to: Boss alerts, buff/debuff/aura changes, etc. (I play a healer).
But yes, your point is well taken: For example, the people who refuse to use headsets with noise-canceling mics, so their speakers (or environment--think screaming kids and a blaring TV) are feeding right back into their microphones.
Annoying is a nice characterization. ;)

Short version: PW:S + Penance.
Dec 10th 2008 4:51PM Thanks for the plug, Mike. :)
Since writing that article (which was originally a post on my guild forums for our healers, as the priest CL), I've installed Pawn and I love it.
I've been using RatingBuster for ages (after seeing a recommendation from BRK), and while it is great at comparing items, it differs from Pawn or LootRank.com in that it doesn't actually "score" the gear.
The biggest obstacle to using any of these scoring methods is to establish a logical and effective rationale for assigning points. As I mentioned in my article, I relied on http://dwarfpriest.com (Dwarf Priest), but modified her scheme to put the same weight on both Int and Spi (for Holy Priests). The differences in our results were pretty negligible (although I haven't done a slot-by-slot, piece-by-piece comparison).
The point is, though, that by determining what your stat preferences are and applying those to Pawn, LootRank, or any similar program/site, you'll have a much better idea of whether a particular piece of gear truly is an upgrade.
Now, who has a good formula for a BM (51/10/0) hunter??
Jul 8th 2008 3:11PM I guess good parody is beyond a lot of WI readers (and at least one writer).
Jul 2nd 2008 5:35PM Hear, hear, Anna!
Could you be more patronizing there, Mr. Schramm? I suspect you either never raided Karazhan with a beginner guild, or totally forget the wipefest such a run can be.

Jul 2nd 2008 5:27PM "With Karazhan basically a knockover for even beginner guilds"
Wow...more than a little patronizing there, Mr. Schramm. I suspect you either never raided Karazhan with a beginner guild, or totally forget the wipefest such a run can be.
Jun 2nd 2008 9:01PM A real lawyer would immediately tell his client to stop posting on the WoW Forums (or any other medium) regarding the issue...IF he took the case in the first place.
There is a reason lawyers are called "mouthpieces".
