May 25th 2009 9:05AM As a member of a casual raiding guild Burning Steppes, EU (approx 30-40 members, many many alts), we decided to approach WOTLK raiding in a slightly different manner to in TBC. We we very studious about Kara and then ZA (we pugged 25s but never really had the numbers to raid 25s regularly ourselves), but this time, we decided to go into Naxx and everything else in Wrath "blind". i.e. our preparation consisted of gearing our chars and turning up to the raids with a focused mindset. No tactics etc. were watched , heard, read before hand. A few weeks later and we had cleared Naxx 10, and eventually OS and Maly fell, too. We are currently stepping up to Kalagorn in Ulduar10 and showing how a tight-knit group of friends can work out fights and coordinate tactics extremely effectively. Anyone looking to extend the life of WoW and to instill some more fun into raids should definitely try this approach to any new content :)
p.s. not trying to big-up us or preach the "truth", just wanted to give one example of how to extend a game's shelf-life at the same time as enquiring about any other guilds that might have done the same as us.
Mar 19th 2008 8:25AM What's with all the juvenile Mike bashing? Whatever you think about his horde-bias or other opinions about WoW etc etc., doesn't give you reason or right to get all up close and personal? Do you ever read/hear the WowInsider peeps slagging readers/listeners off? No, not even when some of the commentors are, to use someone else's eloquent rhetoric, "complete tools"
So... lay off the schrammster :-)
Mar 11th 2008 3:27AM err... even in less than full kara purples, you should be able to keep a tank up in either 5mans, or kara without toughing regrowth. Heroics can be challenging, but that doesn't change much for druids until they are much better geared or running with a very good and well geared tank. Rolling 3 lifeblooms and using rejuv and swiftmend should be ample.... you do know that you can swiftmend on the last hot tick for the full hot amount right?

"If you wanted discussion of druid talents, why not feature builds about which there is discussion e.g. some of those nuances PvP specs I mentioned, dreamstate Vs ToL/Heavy resto for PvE, balance-resto hybrid Vs feral-resto hybrid for soloing/casual play etc etc."
I didn't mean to have a go at you for any lack of druidic knowledge you might have. I simply meant that as you can see, the only real discussion/useful comments that follow this kind of build goes something along the lines of "don't do it dude, just don't." As your own analysis of the build aptly pointed out (with your admitted limited experience of druids), there are many oddities here. Now, if the intention of buildshop is to feature quirky builds (anyone remember the druid sealion build that cropped up on the EU forums?) that people (other druids) can look at and laugh/comment, then this might be a good choice. However, to reach a wider audience than that of the class in question's experts, I think you need to follow the idea that Davidchiller mentioned - the core builds and their variants (which are easy to research). This, imo would make the comments more insightful and useful for druids and non-druids alike.
BTW. I do enjoy reading buildshop and the comments that always teach me more about classes that I know less about, and I don't think that a class expert is needed to do the job - I think that you, as a non-druid, are far better positioned to raise questions and point out issues of confusion that then might prompt decent responses from the community :-)

goldseller above me!!! eeek!!!
you do not belong here!
Feb 13th 2008 2:26AM there is a reason that there are pretty much standard builds for all aspects of druid play i.e. PvE oriented balance, resto x2 (dreamstate balance-resto & ToL resto) & feral. With PvP, there are some variations in specs depending on arena bracket e.g. Balance (Boomkin, Moonhealer), Feral (incl. nature's grasp, natural shapeshifter, naturalist, OOC - altho feral is not too popular for PvP), and two resto builds (one incl. insect swarm and one focusing more on resto talents). The differences between some of the more nuanced builds and the standard builds are not that major and bear (grr) no resemblance to the waste of time build-shop one featured. Why gimp any of the playstyles you want to explore as a Druid when you can do 5 dailies/sell some mats on AH and respec if you want to do what I do and do a bit of all forms of druidness? If you think that you can use a spec to cover up holes in your diff gear collections, then you are very wrong imho. As a couple said already, the +spell dmg with healing gear allows you to respec between resto and balance for some degree of PvE/PvP (altho lack of spell hit will gimp your raiding/heroic performance a tad). Then with feral...if you want to tank, you NEED tanking gear (for anything harder than say ramparts).
I really don't want to put you down - obviously anyone can spec how they want (i've tried some odd builds for fun many a time), but the point is that other than enticing a barrage of dismay, what was the point of this buildshop? If you wanted discussion of druid talents, why not feature builds about which there is discussion e.g. some of those nuances PvP specs I mentioned, dreamstate Vs ToL/Heavy resto for PvE, balance-resto hybrid Vs feral-resto hybrid for soloing/casual play etc etc.
Just my two pence worth ;-)
Feb 12th 2008 7:21AM Real shame that the best columnist on the insider hardly got a look in. Hopefully, Marcie can come on again when the dudes are somewhere else busing being dudey. Funny in places, but bad planning... Marcie was wasted as a great commenter on raiding and raid healing
Jan 23rd 2008 6:44PM I love this column. So much so, in fact, that I made a pally... which required me to renege on my "i will never play a blood elf pledge" (tauren and troll ftw!). Not only am I enjoying my pally (the simplicity compared to my main druid is quite a pleasant change... as is carrying a sword while still being able to heal myself and others), but thanks to TL&HTSI, I am really looking forward to what is to come for my little sexy belf (male, i hasten to add... fed up with all my male guildmates rolling fembelf alts... it's worse that the whole adolescent male nelf thang imo. Dammit.. real men roll taurens if they are butch or belf males if they are less than butch! :-)
Jan 21st 2008 5:35AM damn pressed enter too soon! .... meant to add that this is one of the best quest rewards in the game imo. saw me well into kara when i respecced resto on my druid. I was happy not to be in ToL so that ppl could actually see my lovely sparkly staff rather than a) boring looking feral gear or b) my furry/barky alter-ego
