Oct 26th 2010 9:50PM Thank you! I had totally missed that. She does really great work.
Oct 25th 2010 1:39PM Very disappointed with this entry. I was blown away by "I Am Forsaken". Haven't been able to figure out who the creator was, but my hat is off to them. The voice acting was absolutely amazing, and the video was technically gorgeous. The direction was also spot on. Dramatic camera angles, well-placed movement and zooms... I really loved it.
After that, I was waiting anxiously for the next videos. I *wanted* to be blown away by them. I was so impressed with the Critterclysm (I can't remember the correct name, so I hope I got that right.) and Forsaken really took it up a notch.
Unfortunately, the latter two entries were let downs for me. Mafioso was cute, and I adore goblins. (They are what I'm looking forward to most in Cata. Tiny mad scientists ftw.) I just hated the song. It was utterly un-melodic. Nothing spectacular. Definitely not better than the previous two.
The Love Rocket was really uninspired and trite. It was everything I hate about gnomes in machinima. The voice acting, particularly the female gnome, was grating. The "story" was nonsensical, and not in a good way. This was a missed opportunity. The cast and machinimator clearly have the talent to do something far better. This was just sloppy.
That said: I hope you guys feature World of Whelpcraft (The winner of the art contest). Maybe an interview with the artist? She's a member of WoW_Ladies, and she just posted a great breakdown of her work. Now that is talent!
Aug 30th 2010 11:16AM It's a minor quibble, but "deism" isn't the same thing as "theism". Theology in today's world is full of nebulous terms that get thrown around as though they're catch-alls when that really isn't the case.
I agree with your overall thoughts on Azerothian atheism vs. agnosticism, though. I really enjoyed your post, especially in pointing out the difference in an active/inactive supernatural element.
Jan 14th 2010 11:06AM Musically, this one was fantastic! But... I still have to say Thorim is my favorite. "GRANT MY MORTAL ALLIES THE POWER OF THUNDER!" makes me grin when the big thunder crash follows. Just such an awesome musical moment that was incredibly well executed. Also, Eredar Lord of the Trifling Gnome is a meme in my guild, so the Jaraxxus mix gets big kudos for that. :)
MrVoletron is by far one of my favorite WoW fans-who-make-things.
Dec 19th 2009 4:29AM Ah, but Looking mentioned specifically that this player's gear/spec backed up Recount's assessment. While the add-on may be borked at the moment, it doesn't negate the fact that common sense tells us his DPS really was that bad. In a world without any DPS meter, it'd still be easy to gauge exactly how bad that player was.
Dec 19th 2009 4:22AM Robin, I really do normally agree with you and love your contributions to the site overall. Kudos!
That said, I have to disagree with you in this instance. This isn't a solo-game, but you can play it that way if you want. By all means, I won't belittle anyone's play-style. However, the instant you step into an dungeon, you are making a silent, understood agreement with (at least) 4 other players. Real people who have real lives who may have wanted to do more dungeons after this one was finished.
This DK was disrespectful in a really significant way. This isn't about min-maxing or powergaming or, as you say, epeens. This is about common courtesy. By carrying this DK through the instance, the group gave him a false expectation of being able to clear that instance regularly. That DK made the instance take longer and put more stress on everyone involved. There is a big, big difference between having a person doing 800 DPS when you're in Heroic Nexus and having someone putting out the same in one of the new 5-mans. It's detrimental to everyone, including the DK.
I don't want to sleep my way through a heroic just to get my badges/loot and leave, but there's a mile between having a fun, challenging run and feeling like you don't want to use the DFS ever again lest you face this situation a second time.
I hope that in the future you try to see all sides of a situation. Both responses to Looking were offensively one-sided. I know it isn't fun when people disagree with you, but these comments show a legitimate concern from the community that you so instantly sided with the DK, who (from what was written, which granted is inherently biased but it is the only information any of us have on what happened) was doing himself and his groupmates a great disservice. Politely telling him that he may not be ready for the new 5-mans isn't exactly a personal attack on his play-style or skill.
Oct 27th 2009 3:40PM To answer your question: A lot if my guild is any kind of sample. (Which, ya know, it might not be.) I know that I'm changing my belves to orcs. As of today, my only belf will be my pally, and Cataclysm can't get here fast enough!
Apr 14th 2009 7:52PM They're ALL locked. That is a bizarre sight indeed. The shortest queue I saw while clicking through them, was over 3k.
Feb 4th 2009 2:15PM For a first effort, I give it a 4/5. The quality was better than most, even if the format isn't my speed.
