Apr 27th 2011 4:53PM If you're just starting PvP now... I hope you like to grind!
First, you get to do the honor grind. So much fun. But you need the gear if you want to survive in the arena. And now, with the changes in 4.1, the arena will be a total grind for new players. You'll need 10 wins to cap out your points... and you'll be lucky if you start out winning 40% of your games.
Mar 10th 2011 3:12PM My guild was about 1100 points away from unlocking the Dragon Feast I got impatient and bought up all the cheap cooking mats I could find, probably spent about 1200g, but I ground it out.
Also, occassionally I'll head to a good critter location and spend 10-15 min killing a few hundred critters to get my armadillo faster.
Mar 3rd 2011 12:01PM I had just used the portal in Twilight Highlands to return to the portals in Orgrimmar when I saw a guildmate get the achievement for being killed by Deathwing. Just out of curiosity, I did a /who on him to see where he was, and he was in Uldum. I jumped through the Uldum portal. Frantically mounted up and considered, "Which way should I go?!" and Deathwing flew over the city and toasted me. Yay!
Aug 30th 2010 2:57PM I used to play the wowtcg with a few buddies. But we all dropped it over time due to cost and time.
I live in a large city, but many of the events were often an hour away in some suburb. Getting up hung over at 8am to hit the road to some tournament which would last for hours eventually lost its charm.
Also, the "fun" way to play these games is to buy new booster packs, open them up and see what you get. It's also the expensive way to play. The "smart" & cheap way to play is to theorycraft your decks, then buy the cards you need individually.
Now, my buddies and myself will still pull out the old decks from time to time, but we're not that active anymore. I do enjoy throwing down a few bucks to play in a "sealed" tournament at an event like PAX just for fun, or maybe even profit (my buddy won about $600 in loot cards last year).
WoWTCG is fun, it's addicting... but ultimately time consuming and expensive. WoW is fun, addicting, cheap & easier to "turn off".
Apr 1st 2010 4:52PM April's Fools jokes are funny for about the first 15 minutes of the work day when you still haven't realized it's April 1st.
Can we stop beating the dead horse and get some WoW related stuff back up here?
Oct 27th 2009 8:30PM Undead should get free class re-rolls if that wotf nerf goes live... I've been playing my rogue for two years mainly because of that ability... and yeah yeah whatever you can complain its over-powered & this is a fix not a nerf... but it still doesn't change the fact that it completely changes my character I've had for years.
Sep 24th 2009 1:43PM I already had all the clothes & Brew of the Year from last year... so all I needed to do was buy the food, get drunk & fall, kill direbrew again & use hops on my mount.
I was able to do all that Sunday morning, and get my mount. Such a relief. I was the first person that I saw with it, although I'm sure some got up earlier than me to do it (in the spirit of Brewfest, I was fairly hung over on Sunday).
Jul 28th 2009 2:40PM While leveling in WoW, I prefer to go solo. I know the zones, the quests, the fastest way to do it... I've done it many times before.
If I'm going after a named mob of some sort, and I see someone else clearing their way, I'll of course invite them to group so that one of us doesn't have to wait on the respawn. This might lead to us doing 4-5 quests in the area, and its a great way to meet new people... but it's not my priority when leveling, I just want to get another character to endgame.
Apr 20th 2009 2:14PM Making the pets BoU makes this event more attractive for a broader portion of the playerbase.
There's easier rep grinds for those trying to get exalted with their capitals.
There's achievements to earn for those who like to do as much as possible.
There's profit to be made by selling these pets (put them on the neutral AH for insane prices) and by doing the dailies.
And there's new mounts/pets to be collected.
Mar 24th 2009 6:32PM I know how to fix it... add VEHICLES to arena! Vehicles make everything better!
