Dec 16th 2008 1:38PM I never cared about PvP to begin with. It has never been anything more than a means toward an end for me. In other words: free lewtz ftw?
They changed the honor system to points, what did I do? I did BGs non stop. Why? I wanted GM swords. They introduced Arena. I got arena teams. Why? I wanted Arena swords. Arena gear for honor has given me a good few pieces of gear in the past for alts and whatnot but it has never been more than an alternative source of gear.
Now I look at the pvp gear and the pieces that are within my reach are all horrible. Raiding and PvE is where my heart is, and in that aspect I can get better gear purely by questing or rep rewards. Even the weapons are no better than what I could get in normal 5-mans. As it stands my DK is in almost full badge/heroic gear, and what I have is just so much better than what PvP can offer me, the only reason I would possibly have to pvp any more is to do Vault of Archavon. But I knew that going into Wrath.
As it stands the only reason I will do any pvp is for achievements.
Dec 10th 2008 12:14PM While I do think GC could use a little more tact at times, I honestly don't see what the big deal is. The fact that one of the lead developers of the game is communicating directly with the community is amazing in my opinion, and leagues ahead of what was the case before Wrath. GC is not a politician, and I would much rather he post the facts and do his job than spend his days composing verbose walls of text. It doesn't matter how its said, if the message is the same people will still be upset by it, the only difference is some people will be too busy wading through the loads of flowery words to know if they should be upset or not.
As for the actual nerfs, I do think they are warranted. I haven't played my hunter alt at all since Wrath hit, but I am not seeing them anywhere but the top of the meters, and rarely is it because they are significantly better geared than anyone else in the group. It seems like it is a little overboard though, and in particular, the steady shot nerf is imo, fairly unwarranted, simply because it is a core part of all hunter's rotations. That doesn't seem to me the best way to fix things when you have 2 overperforming specs and 1 underperformer. Lots of little pet nerfs that I suspect will add up to be an overnurf as well. Bottom line, I wouldn't expect things to stay the same. Its likely the list of changes will be significantly different before they even go live, thanks to the PTR.
Dec 8th 2008 6:10PM I can agree that its annoying having to wait for PvP gear to come out, but does conveying that sentiment really require 16 paragraphs of whine? I just skimmed the entire last half of the article after reading about how much easier it is for PvE players a bajillion times. This article did not make me feel sorry for PvP enthusiasts, it just irritated me that a wall of text of this size could have been 3 paragraphs and wasted a lot less of my time.
WoW is an MMO, the content is supposed to be progressive. Now more than anything there are a million different things to do to occupy your time, so if you honestly can't wait one more week then I dunno what to say.
And for the record, this is coming from a Death Knight, who has only 3 options for Sigils in the entire game right now. One is the starting one, one is from Emblems of Heroism (and is horrible), and one is from Naxx25. My guild doesn't start Naxx until next week, so what is my only option, both for upgrading my gear and for attaining the "Superior" achievement? Wait for the PvP sigils, which are actually pretty decent.
So I have to wait just as long as you do, both for a new sigil, and to start doing Naxx.
