Jan 14th 2009 3:04PM I think if it was a little less kiddy they would have a really good MMO with all the ideas packed in from other games ect it could really carve a niche into the mmo market, I dont see it taking off just due to it's kiddyness really.
Dec 28th 2008 2:13PM Depends if you like your hardcore pvp or not really. Darkfall, is the antithesis of my ideal game. Personally it will be a niche game at most, tank into the depths (tabula rasa/motor assault stylee) at worst.
There are far more in depth discussions and summations that I wont go into the depths of why PvP will just never be popular but it comes down to no one likes getting dominated. The adage of too many wolves and not enough sheep is the primary argument of why pvp games start strong then deteriorate very, very quickly into obscurity. The only one I can think that really broke the mold was Dark age of Camelot (within recent memory) but that had allot of other diversions and was a gear based pvp (as such, Darkfall 'isn't').
I can't see it lasting more than 9-12 months as a money making concern for the developers, and I don't know how they hope to recoup almost 8 years of development costings.
Dec 25th 2008 1:16PM ah that reminds me of our gank group in daoc, running two Healers AE stun / AE mez pick em off one by one ... could neutralize 40 people with 2 healers and rest dps group.
Don't think WAR is 'that' bad :P
Oct 2nd 2008 7:07AM Funny really, as we raid sunwell and we neither stack sp's for mana regen or ever have more than 2 shamans for the entire raid or have a manadatory drums policy for it , but we suffice.
Those who min-maxed before the changes would have been royally screwed but those of us who were doing the content as intended would have been ok really, should be a breeze afterwards.
Sep 15th 2008 8:55AM I'm thinking the US launch will go fine but as GOA is running the EU beta it will be fraught with problems.
Closed beta - No communication, constant restarts of server with no warnings, massive deletion of posts on the forums on the topic of performance of the servers and clients.
Open beta - Zero communication reguarding problems, registration problems, authentication problems, lag problems, server problems.
Example, I put my open beta key in ... page fails, can't load page for 3 days. They put up a temporary page, put key in wait for email ... 3 days later it comes, you have 36 hours to play the open beta left.
Head start beta - Registration problems, lag problems, authentication problems STILL and now add to that servers going up and down more than as see saw.
Aug 20th 2008 9:33AM "How bad can imbalance between order/destruction population be for a server?
Could players of the least populated side get bored or irritated to the point they'd leave the server for another one?"
When I played last it was about 2:1 destruction vs order. I played as order, it seems that the people with more clues tend to gravitate to the least populated side (as with WoW) and we tended to dominate BG's but get outnumbered and reamed in normal world pvp. Wasn't as bad tothe point where I considered swapping sides (even with test templates I could instantly re-roll destro and be the same levle).
Aug 19th 2008 5:25AM "I don't like when PvP rewards are hands down better than their PvE counterparts"
Exactly, I don't like being forced to pvp just to get weapons that hardly ever (4 months and counting) drop just to be effective in the next tier content
Jul 25th 2008 4:36PM Fact is though the beta is for an upcoming game now Wrath at all, I have my key sat right in front of me and it's for an undisclosed beta (ie not Wrath).
So people selling them on ebay are ripping people off left right and center, selling this as Wrath keys.
Jul 20th 2008 8:29AM And war ripped it of Lotro/Eq2 and they in turn saw it from somewhere else.
Love people calling others rip off, like "insert your game of choice" was copied by someone else. Wanna see how many elements there are in WAR copied from other games? In fact have you actually play WAR?
Jul 10th 2008 1:02PM Never heard of the blog or the blogger, so why is this news again?
