Aug 7th 2010 6:51PM I like your thoughts on the alternative to Hex, very much like a plate class or pet class off-tanking for a pull.
Also wow, you seem to hate rogues as much as Archmage Pants hates warlocks.
Aug 6th 2010 5:37PM I've been playing since vanilla, I am a good player (courteous, understanding of newbs and capable of laughing at wipes as well as being competent with my class) and I often have good experiences in the LFG tool. Frequently I meet pleasent people, either newer players who are just learning or other "veterans" who like to remenisce about the old days.
Of course veterans are making a minority now because numbers can only expand by new players joining, but that doesn't mean they are all disappearing.
Also, back in the day, tanks were exceedingly rare. You could go for hours in Ironforge waiting to find one and then there was a chance they would absolutely suck or be a completely prima-donna jerk. It was just a little more tolerated then because tanking was a much harder job.
Aug 5th 2010 3:47PM My biggest problem with loremaster was trying to remember what quests I'd actuall done with my main. With 3 other characters over level 60 and one just entering the plaguelands I'd probably done nearly every quest on Azeroth at least once (many of them 2 or 3 times).
For example I could've sworn there was a quest-chain in Feralas that I did for the first time with my rogue, but tracing the chain I couldn't pick it up anywhere with my 'lock. Eventually I finished Loremaster in Tanaris with sodding Tooga's quest. I was screaming at that damn turtle to hurry the **** up.
Jun 30th 2010 9:00AM In Britain we use the word "knackered" to mean tired, worn out or - more significantly - broken.
Could we start using the worrd "Knaakered" with regards to certain parts of WoW lore?
Jun 26th 2010 8:57PM Your bit about Decursing reminded me of a Terry Pratchett quote (Carrot in Jingo I believe);
"If we succeed no-one will remember, but if we fail no-one will forget!"
May 15th 2010 8:57PM I've read the comics and they're really pretty good, definitely made me warm to Wrynn and they're certainly entertaining enough to warrant the flexing of WoW's malleable lore.
Apr 27th 2010 6:02PM The end of the missing diplomat became a massive dissapointment after Wrynn returned. Jaina basically tells you it was a huge waste of time, and by the way the king killed Onyxia, not you or any of your friends.
Apr 27th 2010 5:59PM Class quest are also pretty awesome (at least the 'lock ones are, warrior ones are grindy). In vanilla I used to RP quite a bit and felt really naughty pursuing demonic knowledge on my own. Had a bit of a fel-corruption story going on (stereotypical I know...) and dreaded to think what my balance druid friend would think if they saw me slaughtering moonkin on the dreadsteed quest. To top it off some people I regularly role-played with saw me whilst I was friendly to the demon cultists in Felwood, leading to some pretty awkward questions.
Apr 27th 2010 5:44PM When I was doing loremaster I got down to one quest left in Kalimdor. I felt a bit stuck as I was planning to finish up in Feralas but apparently had already quested out that zone (could've sworn I first did it on my warrior, but nevermind).
Then I remembered doing that damn turtle with my druid and was sure it was the first time. Sure enough my last quest before earning the loremaster title had me escorting his damn slow ass across Tanaris, jumping, jiggling and screaming at him to hurry up whilst my imp soloed all the mobs.
Apr 27th 2010 10:35AM Awesome article, I'd completely forgotten about the wonder-woman nelf :)
Other fun ones people should check out;
Saving Sharpbeak - Disneyesque quest to save a baby gryphon from some nasty trolls in the Hinterlands (along the way you can grab the Zul'Farrak mallet).
Fallen Hero of the Horde - on the way to Zangarmarsh from the Blasted Lands, epic quest chain.
The Linken Chain - starts from a sunken boat in Un'Goro, an awesome nod to one of Nintendo's favourites.
Faerie Dragons in Feralas - nice little pet for the Alliance.
They all involve quite a bit of travelling (possibly a good idea to do 'em with a DK to make sure you have all the flights, and as some can be quite tough having a totally OP character will be handy too) but they have great story-telling and really have an epic feel.
