Aug 13th 2008 3:27AM I've managed to train both my mining and herbalism to Grand Master without setting foot in Dalaran in the beta... The trainers are right there in the starting zones.
Aug 8th 2008 12:23PM @Dan:
Maybe, but at the moment the endgame prot gear of TBC doesn't have a lot of strength, which means that prot warriors are doomed to losing their hardearned gear right at the beginning of WotLK, while other classes can keep using it up to lvl 75+. Which in turn will make tanking for warriors much harder.
Aug 8th 2008 11:17AM Warriors good? Ok, maybe Fury/Arms are still ok, but Prot warriors seem to be having problems with generating enough threat.
Aug 2nd 2008 3:55PM LOL, can I remind you guys that before TBC, threatmeters didn't even exist, and if they did, they were viewed as "cheating".
Young folks these days... expect everything to be handed to them ;).
Despite all that, as a tank, I'm glad to see that Blizzard is showing ppl that they need to stop DPSing the darn mob!
Jul 31st 2008 6:16PM That's one thing I agree to. If it all becomes factory work, then there's no reason to experiment. Just take the strategy from one of the vanguard raiding guilds and rinse and repeat for epics.
Only two things lacking: fun and challenge.
Jul 28th 2008 7:29AM That was my first thought too when I saw the animation and the effect of Death Grip. I love it :D.
Jul 28th 2008 7:29AM LOL, rarely used? HS is my main threat tool when tanking bosses on progression level (currently end of SSC/TK, start of MH). About 30% of my attacks on bosses are Heroic Strike attacks. As long as you have "infinite" rage, HS is a staple skill for a tank.
Jul 24th 2008 9:59AM I got Vindicator Marrad for my birthday from my guild master (and good friend ;)). Other then that, I don't think I have any other interesting WoW related merchandise. Being hardcore Alliance, I'm very jealous on the cool looking Horde logo, and wish I could wear it without feeling like a traitor ;).
I've been tempted more than once into buying WoW t-shirts and the TCG, but have been able to resist so far.
Jul 18th 2008 1:52AM It's early for me, and I might be misreading things, but it seems to me Prot Warrior life is going to get very hard:
"Shield Block now increases chance to block and amount blocked by 100% for the next attack. Cooldown increased to 30 seconds."
"Improved Shield Block (Protection) now has 2 ranks and reduces cooldown of Shield Block by 5/10 secs. It no longer increases the number of blocks."
So once every 20 seconds, you can fully ignore one attack?
Currently the tooltip for Shield Block is:
"Increases chance to block by 75% for 5 sec, but will only block 1 attack." Cooldown 5 seconds.
Improved Shield Block increases the duration to 6 seconds, and blocks an extra attack.
Jul 16th 2008 2:22AM For our progression raids, we simply say "no alts, unless the Raid Leader asks you to bring an alt". This means that we don't have to worry about having second rate alts in the group, and if we need, say, a hunter instead of a warrior, then the warrior can take his hunter alt, assuming it's geared well enough.
We had a time when people were signing up to raids with alts that arguably could perform well in the instance we were going to, but as officers (who also play alts) we think it's easier to make progress if each player focuses on having one character to improve.
As for loot, we've got the "simple" rule: main onspec > main offspec > alt onspec > alt offspec
We also use EPGP, which is quite a nice system.
