Feb 27th 2011 1:37AM I haven't read through all the comments to see if this was stated yet or not, so if it has been sorry for the repeat. But Hakkar the Soulflayer and Hakkar the Houndmaster are unrelated. Somewhere, I think I read it on Wowwiki, so credibility could be questioned, but it was stated that Knaak had named the Houndmaster Hakkar by accident, and the two names in turn became an inconsistency in the universe.

Since War of the Ancients was written by Richard A Knaak as canon and more free-lance work than later books have been, there were a few inconsistencies with the rest of the storyline, that name is just one of them.

However, who knows, maybe Blizzard will use this as an excuse to cover their behinds and make up some correlation, this wouldn't be the first time they've retconned something like this =P (Not to demean their work, it's a big universe, things happen)

I think Rhonin's staff would be pretty neat, though if you want another caster from that time Krasus is also technically a mage, being a dragon, it could potentially be something from him as well.
