Reader UI of the Week: Crafting a UI for a disabled player {WoW}

Mar 8th 2011 10:35AM The amount of compassion in this post wall is AMAZING and proof positive that there are plenty of mature, caring players in this Game.

Good stuff and kudos for an taking the time to discuss an important topic and make it easier for those unfortunate enough to play with the same ease as some of us are.

Epic new Rift video precedes tomorrow's beta test opening {Massively}

Dec 5th 2010 12:08PM Looks amazing, I'll give it a try (got a beta invite I didn't use, weekend betas are little more than "kick the tires" events and unless I can actually PLAY the game I'd rather wait). but be realistic. For the WoW haters posting here, this game isn't going to kill anything, least of all WoW.

They will get the initial purchase and three months of sub time from me. It's worth it, and being such a brave developer gets my lewts, but everyone needs to calm down. WoW isn't going any where.

The Soapbox: Don't hate the game, hate the copy {Massively}

Oct 12th 2010 11:52AM It's not the success that drives most of us away. It's the outright in your face racism, sexism, gay bashing, foul mouthed children that no one on Blizzards end chooses to anything about. Why do people look for a "WoW-like" alternative? Because they are trying to get away from the community, and still have some of the same gameplay they enjoyed. WoW is an AWESOME game, there is no disputing that. It has a low learning curve, low PC demands and plenty to get involved with and do, the flip side of this ease of access is the community will track closer to the lowest common denominator. I played for years, but eventually got tired reading n***** f****** bleep bleep bleepity bleep bleep in guild, general, or trade chat.

Hobbits like gifts and you do too: Win 500 LotRO Turbine Points and get into the head start! {Massively}

Sep 8th 2010 10:35AM I would use the points on XP pots. (Being a DDO player I assume they have them here as well.)

Rumor: Realtime Worlds lays off staff, puts APB up for sale [Updated] {Massively}

Aug 13th 2010 12:03PM My primary grievance with APB is the lack of recourse against cheaters/exploiters.
The fact that no anti-cheat software was in place at launch was a warning sign, the lack of cheater banning taking place was another. They were so broke they couldn't afford to ban cheaters, and it was allowed to continue. It's a fair estimate to say that 40% of the gamer base of APB hacks, it's that rampant. RTW ruined the game by allowing it to get to the point it's at now, and they are paying the price.

I'm sorry if my earlier comment offended anyone, but the truth is just that. This was a terrible game in every way, and when you release a crappy game this IS what happens. The only people truly enjoy the game are the elite level players adn the hackers. The casual player had no place in this game, and as anyone who follows MMOs knows, the casual gamer is a necessary part of any MMO financial model. Alienate them and chances are you won't be around for very long.

The game sucks. The company RTW spent way to much money on it. Now they are paying for their mistakes with their jobs.

The Anvil of Crom: Completionism and avoiding the F2P plague {Massively}

Jun 13th 2010 2:23PM Right, I should totally pay 15 bucks a month to get called a *BLEEP* and *BLEEP* by you and your friends, and totally not complain about my money being used in everyway possible except stopping *BLEEP* like racism-- sorry also for not being a good "boy" and having the nerve to complain about it. F2P doesn't cost anything, and for the most part, I see less racism.

I have the following game accounts: WoW - LotRO - CoH - Champions Online - ST:O - AoC and others... so it's not like I am thinned skinned, but after not seeing anything done to curb it, why should you get a dime of my money?

*bleeped a bit by your friendly neighborhood editor, no need to use profanity to make this point*
