Cataclysm hotfixes for Jan. 5 {WoW}

Jan 6th 2011 6:42AM A bit disappointed about the Deadmines nerf. I hope it's not an omen of things to come.

For what it's worth, I didn't find the trash much of a problem. In fact, I've been in parties that ran in circles around them, most memorably with Mind Control, Sap, Blind, and Hex, where we let the mobs kill each other pretty much. With this nerf I'm a little worried that the trash will become trivial, and what's fun about fights that aren't challenging? Now that every DPS class has CC, why not expect them to use it?

Ok, the instance was a bit long, but I think it's nice to have 1 or 2 instances that take more than 30 minutes to complete. It screws over people who use the dungeon finder to find a quick one, but then again I'm becoming more convinced that the LFD tool is broken in this expansion. It's great for finding groups to smash through unchallenging content, but the cooldown on kicking, the potential for abuse, and the inability to filter who gets invited is making guild chat and the LFG channel all the more attractive; at least for instances that actually pose a challenge.

Dec 11th 2010 8:14AM I think it'll make healing more interesting and arguably more challenging. But I think that's a good thing and players will both respond positively and adapt quickly.

Oct 17th 2010 5:59AM Canceled my account today. BGs and instances just weren't fun for me, and I don't have time to raid any more. I'll activate it for a month after Cataclysm is released and see what I think.

Naxxramas gear by type {WoW}

Mar 18th 2009 6:52PM I'm not an expert on the subject, but maybe this is because there are more holes in the Paladin's gear set elsewhere?

I mean, maybe Naxx has a lot of holy paladin plate because they may not have as much crafted, badge or heroic gear as other classes?

The counter argument would be that holy paladins can wear all the other armor types as well, I suppose, although I guess priest cloth would have different stats to paladin plate.

Oct 19th 2008 12:41PM This idea would kill old world content completely and ruin the game for new players. Not to mention the obvious problems with low level profession mats, which would see a huge drop in supply.

Blizzard have created a purely vertical expansion system, which isn't going to be practical in the long run. If you think the levelling grind is boring at level 70 or level 80, imagine doing it at level 90, or 100, or 110, etc. Eventually Blizzard are either going to have to change their expansion system or restart with a whole new MMO.

Sep 14th 2008 6:32PM I wish I knew more about Gnomeregan. It seems odd for such an inquisitive race to spend their entire lives underground. It raises the question - could a gnome spend their entire life underground? Would that be good for them as a race? And the fall of gnomeregan suggests a darker side. Did Thermaplugg destroy it single-handedly, or did he have help? Are the lepers the faction of gnomes unhappy with Mekkatorque's leadership, and was it they that brought about Therma's rise to power?

Metamorphosis feedback wanted {WoW}

Sep 9th 2008 3:10AM I'm not a beta tester, but this talent seems like a bad idea. The demonology tree seems to be the survivability, versatility, and pet dps tree. Metamorphosis offers none of this; the armor bonus is simply not enough to justify the loss of soul link, it has an extremely limited movepool, and the pet is gone completely.

If it has to stay, it *needs* to be terrifying if it's going to be worth taking at all. Something that will make the rogues run away from us rather than the other way around. There are lots of ways of doing that, the easiest being to beef up the existing skills so that they're much more scary. And if you're going to make it a melee/spell caster hybrid, give it pushback resistance. Oh, and do something about the vulnerability to banish or they'll just get chain-cc'd. Perhaps a 50% resistance to snare and crowd control mechanics?
