Macs running Steam are more powerful than PCs, on average {Engadget}
Jun 10th 2010 1:49PM A very misleading title.
What those statistics are really saying is that on average Macs are more powerful than PCs in every way except the one that counts. Steam is a gaming platform. Games need a decent graphics card, Macs, even nice ones, still come with pretty mediocre graphics cards, and pretty mediocre driver support for games. I love my Mac, but I still boot to Windows for gaming simply because the same game just runs faster (and yes, that might be a porting problem - but it's been true in every game I've been able to test like that).
Breakfast Topic: So what do you think of patch 3.2? {WoW}
Aug 10th 2009 10:39AM I generally like 3.2, but by far my biggest complaint is that since lots of people have come back to the game and are trying to run instances, the dreaded "no more instances can be launched" message has come back in full force. Trying to get into instances this past weekend was a joke, I spent over 30 minutes twice trying to launch an instance, very annoying.
I understand that there's a resource limit, but can't they add some sort of queuing system, having lots of players all launching themselves at the instance gateway really sucks. More to the point, how could they release 3.2 without knowing that this wouldn't have been a problem.

Jul 15th 2009 10:59AM Nice write up. I still remember a friends 8 year old playing hide and seek in the game with another friends kid. They were having a ton of fun, just playing a game within a game. Fascinating to watch.

Jun 19th 2009 4:52PM As for no one using the audio in and out at the same time, that might be because the audio in isn't a microphone in. Instead it needs to be amped to be useful. Anyone coming form a PC background where headsets just work gets mighty frustrated on a mac where they need separate amplifier to get the audio in to work, or just bail and buy a usb headset. So of course it's not used, it doesn't actually do what many people actually want.

Outfitter not discontinued after all {WoW}
Apr 14th 2009 3:02PM Outfitter never advertised in game (there might have been a paypal link on one of the web links somewhere, I don't remember), the author just thought that Blizzard was being heavy handed.
That said, I'm really glad that he's continuing with support for Outfitter, I much prefer it to the alternatives.
