Sep 30th 2011 6:14PM "it is not opinion but fact that the original game was PVE only, and PVE was added later"
The /pvp flag was there from the start on PvE servers. PvP servers were available at launch.
Those are facts.
Sep 28th 2011 10:40PM Unfortunately, at the same time, a lot of people won't get this as their experience:
"It's a fun learning experience full of mistakes, dungeon journal reading, and unmitigated excitement."
They'll get "Why didn't you watch the YouTube video and/or read up on the fights?" when they join a group.
It's not often that one gets to learn about a fight while doing it in this game if you're in a pickup group. You're expected to know all about it and execute it perfectly the first time if you're not among friends. It's a shame really.
Sep 27th 2011 7:42PM Sorry, but I have an only somewhat related question about: "Given how much effort goes into getting a guild to level 25..."
Does it really take a lot of effort? I'm in a guild with 2 members total and we're almost to level 4 just by leveling and/or doing dailies whenever we feel like it - no push to level the guild at all. Just curious if there's something else to it when the guild gets to higher levels ... I didn't think the XP needed increased like it does for players (perhaps I'm wrong).
Sep 23rd 2011 1:57PM Raiding isn't where you get money, the AH is :)
It does take some time to get into though, and it's not for everyone of course.
Sep 22nd 2011 4:21PM This has got to be how a lot of new people feel coming into WoW. The forums and chat are full of inside jokes.
Public service reminder: If you guys think the WoW community is full of jerks, for the love of all that is holy, don't even go near League of Legends. I loved that game, but the people that ruin it seem to be the rule there, not the exception.
Sep 19th 2011 3:05PM Do people ever even talk in your random groups?
I typically say Hello at the beginning of a PUG and am lucky to get a response besides "r?" when the tank is pulling.
That being said ... if you do get a chatty PUG, yeah, I can see people being stupid.
Sep 18th 2011 11:14PM I want to get a job as a Blizzard CM for the sole purpose of sending out cryptic communications using words I know will rile people up, like:
"After this announcement you will be studiously dancing for joy"
"Even we will not be able to house our players' excitement tomorrow"
"We're getting ready to serve you up some Classic Blizz goodness"
"We will announce something in a class of its own, you could even say it's heroic"
Man, can you imagine the flame wars and speculation stuff like that would bring?
Sep 13th 2011 5:49PM I was going to comment for this exact reason. No mention of Dark Simulacrum in PvP? That seems like a bit of an oversight.
I've healed/bubbled myself, sheeped people, blinked ... all sorts of helpful stuff with that spell. It's easy to forget about, but it's an amazing ability.
Sep 9th 2011 1:32PM It's funny to see so much this in WoW, where a guy and 2 friends quitting turns into "WoW is losing subs in droves, obviously there's something dire going on here!!1!1!".
Perspective is vital with these things and it's just not something we can get a clear picture of since we don't work at Blizz and have access to their reporting.
Sep 8th 2011 5:24PM "I brake for mana..."
You should also brake for small animals. Little squirrels, kitties and such.
