Raid Rx: Analyzing your healers Part 4 {WoW}

Jun 30th 2008 4:38PM @Teresa: I think perhaps you missed the point that I'm trying to take people through a thought process. In this case it was, "The LB numbers seem low" and then when we went through the data and when we really saw what was going on, it all made sense. You're going to start out with preconceptions and you need the tools to figure out whether they're correct or not.

As far as the priest goes, I'm pretty sure something strange was going on with them. Exactly what that is will be talked about in another post.

@Gysh: You can't use what you don't have online at the time.

As far as comparing shaman to druids, I've talked the pitfalls of class comparison a few times. Realize you're comparing druids who stand still the entire time to shaman that are running in/out of bloodboils.

Raid Rx: Are tier token drops fair? {WoW}

Apr 8th 2008 4:19PM Thanks for catching the probability mistakes. I corrected the post to reflect them. Luckily the numbers weren't that different.

I'm not qq'ing but honestly surprised at how non-random many of our boss fights have started to feel. The Mother Shahraz joke after Patch 2.4 was "Great, now we'll get tripple Protector."

Raid Rx: Consumed {WoW}

@Bastiaan: Please direct your grammatical question to Rudyard Kipling, since it was his poem, Recessional, that made "lest we forget" a catch phrase (at least to me).

@Khanmora: Great catch. I knew there was something a couple of healers were using on Mother but I couldn't recall what it was. Thanks!

Raid Rx: Topping the meters {WoW}

Feb 26th 2008 7:37PM I expected mixed reviews, so I'm glad you guys didn't let me down. Sometimes I like to dish out information (see that Grid article) but othertimes I'd rather people stop and think for themselves. I didn't write this to be sarcastic. It's honestly a way to be at the top of the meters.

But at the same time, it also outlines the pitfalls and schemes people will use to get around actually being an efficient, top quality healer. These are things I've learned the hard way that healing leads should be on the look out for.

You'll also notice that if someone does do everything that I mention, there's really no harm. Is buffing for every pull bad? Nope. Is not PoM'ing going to bring about the end of your guild as we know it? Certainly not. Min/Maxing is great, but don't loose sight of the bigger picture.

Raid Rx: I feel the need... the need for speed Part 3 {WoW}

Feb 20th 2008 10:03AM The work computer, it hates replies. This is in response to Pzychotix. Your math isn't right, either. :) The healing difference is 85 and the number of additional casts in 5 min is 26. Looking back at my calculations, I see what I did wrong. I was just comparing raw healing numbers (thinking in terms of a delta healing) insead of factoring in the applied healing values, which is 71% of your +healing for Chain Heal. This means that you'll loose a bigger chunk of your base heal than I originally calculated. For a 5 minute fight, a 139 haste rating results in 28k more healing. I'm going to go back and check the rest of my calcs and I'll let you know if there are any other changes. Haste, it can be confusing.

Concerning paladins, I mentioned Flash numerous times in Part 2 where I went over how it applies both now and after patch 2.4. What happened in Part 2 stays in Part 2.

And what is this 4chan and why wasn't I invited?!?! I type in a manner that makes me laugh. I say "prolly" irl, and I find leetspeak funny, so I pepper it in for comic relief. If you don't like it, I'm sorry, but don't expect me to change. :) I iz how I iz.

WoW is a game of tiny amounts adding up to a significant whole. To me, 80 healing most certainly is important, considering it's the main stat you need for raiding no matter what healing class you play. How do you think you got to +2k healing to begin with? But like I say 1 million times over, it's all about your personal balance. If you're running OOM but have +3k healing, swapping 80 healing for a chunk of mp5/spi is prolly a good thing.

Raid Rx: I feel the need... the need for speed Part 2 {WoW}

Feb 13th 2008 3:32PM The other closing line is for Ready Check, which isn't Raid Rx. It's never been associated with this feature, so... um... yeah. And as to the lolspeak, expect it sprinkled as I deterime is appropriate. It's in there if you look. I find it funny.

The racism thing was a translational error. Where I come from, it has nothing to do with race and is an endearing term. How about Guinny Squirrel? Anyone have a problem with that particular rodent?

@Scotty: Crap, I meant to put in the footnote that it was your image (although the link does work). My appologies.

Raid Rx: I feel the need... the need for speed Part 2 {WoW}

Feb 12th 2008 7:44PM My argument is that you could go OOM if you sacrifice too much haste gear for mana regen gear, especially if you're already on the low side to begin with.

As to the dps stuff, I leave that to better people.
