Devilsaurs tamable on Wrath servers, Chimeras may be next {WoW}

Jul 29th 2008 1:26PM I remember that there are chimera in Howling Fjord, Stonetalon Peaks, and Feralas. Might want to check those places as well?

Extended maintenance for Tuesday, July 29th {WoW}

Jul 28th 2008 9:52PM Northrend and Lich King servers are already down for the next beta build, and should be back up between 9:00 PM PDT and 11:00 PM PDT.

So actually, the beta servers will likely be up during the downtime tomorrow.

Death Knight Frost tree changes in latest Wrath Beta build {WoW}

Jul 27th 2008 12:23PM Wrong. The death knight doesn't have nearly as many abilities as other classes, so they rely more on their talent trees to increase their power, and Frost is the one that is the weakest. None of the death knight trees is specifically for tanking, but they all improve the way the death knight fights. Frost is the worst in that regard.

Even with these changes, Frozen Rune Weapon and Frost Strike need buffed so that the Frost Death Knight functions along the same power that Unholy and Blood Death Knights function.

Breakfast Topic: Do you pay attention to 25-man progression? {WoW}

May 28th 2008 1:00PM I like reading about when a boss is first killed, but I don't really care about who did it in particular.

Can WoW be beaten? {WoW}

May 2nd 2008 2:15AM WoW is too big to be toppled. The only thing that can kill World of Warcraft is Blizzard by doing something incredibly stupid with the game.

Other MMOs shouldn't even think about trying to take the #1 seat away from Warcraft, and instead, should focus on making a good game and surviving along side it.

Actually, that's probably the way a game will beat Warcraft, if any do. From the sounds of it, Warhammer, which a lot of people are touting to be the next big challenger, suffers from being too simple, likely due to copying some of Warcraft's success with very simple gameplay.

Breakfast Topic: Your first impressions {WoW}

Apr 29th 2008 10:24AM I've been playing MMOs since I was about 11, starting with EverQuest, which I stuck with for quite a long time, as I really never saw anything out that was much better for a PvE experience.

I'd been reading up on WoW for quite a while, and really didn't hear anything bad about it, so when Fileplanet put up a stress test mid-beta, I signed up as fast as I could.

Needless to say, after the massive grind-fest and itemization problems that EQ has, I was happily surprised by how easy it was to get your character going in Warcraft. Quests that you could do to get armor and coin to buy spells and abilities with, and they're all over the place. The only quests worth doing in EQ were really high level, had you kill raid mobs for a chance to get an item to drop, and in general were a pain. Here, quests were for everyone, and were part of actually leveling.

I couldn't go back to EQ after that, and went MMO-less until the Open Beta started for WoW, and I acquired the actual game on launch day.

The Shadow Diaries: In which I take a shortcut {WoW}

Apr 25th 2008 1:14AM Shadow Power is a good talent once you realize that the only way your DPS is going to go from "okay" to "good" is through Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death.
