Jul 9th 2009 8:28AM exactly this. this would simply cause an altsplosion amongst those who wish to play for 12 hours straight.
Jul 8th 2009 8:17AM turning off xp gains DOES extend to levelling in general, not just PVP activities. This is also an answer to people asking for vanilla realms. Just turn off XP gains at 60 and raid to your hearts content!
Apr 24th 2009 10:32AM just throwing this out there, if you're at the soft block cap (ie, 102.4% avoidance+block with Holy Shield up) then libram of repentance is wasted block rating. Obstruction is both a mitigation increase and a threat increase (thanks to synergy with Shild of Righteousness.
Only very poorly geared tankadins will find LoR to be a time to live gain over LoO. The new Libram is an tiny overall threat increase (as it will buff all 3 ShoR's in a normal 969 rotation) and a moderate Mitigation buff (as it will add block value to cover the 4 out of 9 seconds that the block value buff wasn't up in the aforementioned 969 rotation)
honestly, though, the difference is likely to be small enough that most people won't be exactly breaking their necks to get their hands on the new Libram.
Apr 13th 2009 4:44PM First, it's a Simpsons reference, get over yourself.
Second, are you really complaining that, as a Christian, you are persecuted currently? Seriously? We're in charge of everything... Heck, you have to pretend to be Christian to be president in the US, a country founded on the principle of religious freedom (but apparently not tolerance)
I'm Catholic, and go to mass weekly. I point this out, because apparently, since I'm not an Atheist, I'm not on the internet.
If this is truly offensive to you, you must be pretty insecure in your relationship with God...
On the other hand, at least you didn't start off by saying "First post"
I'll pray for God to reassure you in your faith tonight, Ruz.
Mar 15th 2009 9:29AM there are other useful stats for spirit to scale that would not necessarily increase damage, but rather provide wiggle room with other gear choices. Hit Rating, I'm looking at you...
Mar 4th 2009 11:47AM this is one of the best articles I've read on the site. Additionally, it's one of the best arguments I've heard for why encounters shouldn't be made with specific tanks in mind...
replacing the "warrior is always the best tank" mindset of vanilla with "DK is always the best tank" is not exactly a positive change.
Adding a magic mitigation mechanic to existing tank stats is the most elegant solution, in my opinion.
Bringing all tanks relative EH in line only solves the issue if the total damage mitigation, not just physical, is similar accross all tanks. Otherwise, you're just nerfing druids (already basically relegated to being second best tanks on 2 encounters, and worst (relative) for everything else.)
Feb 23rd 2009 11:11AM there's a difference between 2-3 wakeup wipes, and 2-3 "you seriously can't dodge a void zone?" wipes.
if you have raiders to replace the void zone zombies, you swap em out and keep going. if you can't swap out the people having a bad night, and they can't get it in gear, it's pointless to waste time that people could be spending with their families and gold that will have to be farmed to replace it.
Feb 23rd 2009 8:12AM when it becomes clear that your current group will be incapable of completing the encounter, whether through fatigue, boredom, inexperience, or incompetence, it's time to call it. Sometimes a single raider can be the difference between your seventh twilight mount and a night of 200 gold repair bills. part of your job as a raid leader is to determine:
1 what needs to change from what you've been doing to what you need to do to clear the encounter.
2 whether the group you have can make those changes
3 whether you can replace anyone who would prevent you from making those changes.
You call it when you don't have any way to down the boss at the time.
Feb 21st 2009 7:27PM first, the obligatory 540 defense is just a SOFT cap (ie, it will no longer lower your chance to be crit, as at 540 defense, it's already at zero) defense is still a valuable stat after 540.
second, an obligatory link to maintankadin basic training forums: http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=65db188a1780f69ed0c2117f5cf73028
this is really the best next step for anyone interested in transitioning from ret or holy.
tankspot is good for overall tanking topics, but maintankadin is really the home for prot pallies...
