...except I think Gnomergan will probably become a phased starting zone for new gnome players, ending at the surface with a big battle. Given the names of the troll flight paths, it seems likely both these races are being given the same kind of epic treatment as death knights (& worgen & goblins from reports), i.e. an actual storyline instead of just disparate quest hubs, leading up to a battle for their capital.
I've been predicting new cap towns and starting zones for trolls and gnomes for years. When Cataclysm was announced, with its emphasis on reworking the old world, I thought it was a sure bet these two races would finally get the treatment they missed out on in WoW's original development, probably mostly due to time constraints.
From a lore perspective, both of these races have been displaced for a long time and none to happy about it...nothing like a worldwide natural disaster to turn the tide on your enemies!

Dec 16th 2009 4:21PM You gotta love the hilariously appropriate quote in that guy's sig (which is apparently what gave his identity away).
"Trying is the first step towards failure." -Homer Simpson
Priceless. This guy should teach post-graduate FAIL at Harvard.

1. Skim headline.

3. Post as quickly as possible (important!)
Nov 23rd 2009 5:33PM Agree. Cataclysm is a complete overhaul of Azeroth, including getting rid of the technical limitations present 5 years ago. I think it's safe to guess this would include making the 3 continents completely flyable, in addition to new flightpaths. A big part of separating BC content was to entice players to buy the expansion. Seeing as Azeroth is going to be changed whether you buy Cataclysm or not, it seems like Bliz doesn't care so much any more about keeping the new content separate. I think enough people will buy it just for the new races and high level content.
By the same token, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a money sink for 'old weather flying' either. Those costs were mostly to slow players down and push them into the early Northrend (and Outland) quests. But for 'Azeroth 2.0', there's no reason to prevent flying anywhere that isn't one of the 5 new zones.
