Sep 9th 2011 12:41PM Oh yes, I love this song. I even have it on my ipod to listen to when I'm out. :) The Deadmines was always one of my favorite dungeons... even endlessly farming it for cloth and enchanting materials on various characters didn't diminish it. After the Catcaclsym, I was happy to see the Westfall zone and the dungeon completely revamped and the story updated... but yes... I miss Mister Smite as well.
Sep 1st 2011 1:06PM Well.. this would have been nice in the start. Horses are certainly appropriate, and my druid ground faction like crazy to get a Stormwind horse. Part of my RP is she does not like the curse and spends as much time in human form as possible, so having her run around on all fours (when not in cat or bear form) was right out.
I am hoping to see something a bit more distinctive though, and perhaps larger? I know riding my horse while in worgen form it seems almost like I'm riding a pony...
Aug 31st 2011 3:07PM Well, being homosexual isn't new. It has existed far back into history as recorded by people. It exists in animals. Even being openly gay or engaging in gay relationships isn't anything new. This idea that being gay is deviant.. that is new, in a historical sense.
And homosexuality has nothing to do with prosperity. I'm not quite sure where you are getting that inference. But all lot of those 'good old days' of prosperity.. they were based on exploiting people and keeping them repressed and in their place. Maybe good financially, but from a humanity standpoint, rotten to the core.
Gays in the military is part of that whole culture of "it's okay to be gay, so long as I don't have to see it" mentality that keeps minorities 'in their place'. Despite the fact that their place is standing equally with everyone else. And the fight for gays serving openly, marriage and equal rights? Because it would be kind of nice to be true to yourself without fear of being fired from your job, kicked out of your home, attacked or possibly killed. And in many states and counties, some or all of those things are perfectly legal.
But the point here is gay NPCs in games and WoW in particular. There should be more, because it's a not uncommon thing. Because it's nice to see people you can identify with appearing in game in a positive light. And yes, as far as the 'Gay Agenda' goes (the agenda being 'To be treated equal to everyone else in rights and dignity') then having more openly gay people that aren't bad stereotypes helps more people to understand that to be gay is normal, and nothing to be ashamed of.
People who think we want more gay people in games to make 'the straights' uncomfortable or advance some fiendish goal should really examine their own prejudices first...
Aug 31st 2011 2:29PM Sadly, this is the sort of thought that is so common, and one of the worst. While not openly hateful and homophobic, it is quietly assuming straight=normal and find, gay=deviant and shoving it in my face.
Think about it a moment... So often, nobody even notices a man and woman holding hands or giving each other a little kiss hello or goodbye. Some even think it is cute they are so in love. This is thought of as 'normal'. But if it's two guys in that situation they are 'shoving their lifestyle in my face' and thought of as being deviant. Even though they are doing the exact same thing as the straight couple.
More than anything else, that's the attitude in society that we need to change. I personally could do with a few less stereotypical 'gay' characters in media and a few more ordinary normal people with a same sex partner. Or multiple partners, but that's another thing. These relationships are every bit as normal and natural as any straight relationship, but hundreds of years of social programming and intolerance has turned it from just the way life is into something that should be hidden as being 'deviant and sinful'. We're only now as a society getting over that mind set... there are a lot of people who still cling to the old ways though. Like any social change, it takes time. Time and exposure to gay people being seen as plain, ordinary folks. THAT is why I want to see more openly gay people in media/games what have you.
Aug 31st 2011 11:46AM Well, I do think that WOW does include some likely gay couples in the game. Curiously all of them seem to be cross species? To me, Quae/Kinelory and Tholo/Anren seem to be perfectly obviously gay couples. I'm not so sure about the others mentioned, I get more of a feeling of just really good friends/brothers out of them. But they decided to keep thinks downplayed, so people will see what they want to see out of it. Being bisexual myself, I have no problem with this.
As another note... I do like that the Valentine's Day world event doesn't restrict you from professing expression to same sex guards. Just dab on a little of the correct scent and that female guard will swoon just as easily for you as for the guy next to you. I thought that was nice.. My second oldest character started off and has always been lesbian. It wasn't something I planned on when I made her, it was just there and seemed a natural part of her personality, as much as being a neutralist in the Horde/Alliance war is. So it was nice that she could officially flirt with female NPCs on that holiday instead of being forced to go around chatting up the guys when she didn't want to.
Aug 27th 2011 11:00AM You should grow a goatee, of course.
Yes, even the women.
Aug 22nd 2011 6:57AM I do love trolls, so much. My main for many years has been a Troll shaman, and I have had a lot of time to develop her personality and roleplay... She is a big supporter of Vol'jin, and one of my proudest moments with her, both in game sense and as a player was standing side by side with him and retaking the Echo Islands. Besides the fact that in her roleplay, Zalazane is a personal enemy of hers.. So it was wonderful to finally see him get his just endings. Needless to say, she stand behind Vol'jin and the Darkspear against Garrosh an the united troll tribes.
My other main troll on the other hand is a death knight.. and a former Zandalar troll before being turned by the Lich King. She is actual in support of the reuniting of the tribes and doesn't care about Horde or Alliance, since she is really part of either. Horde members just assume she's a Darkspear, so she walks among them freely.
Aug 19th 2011 6:56PM He'll drop a shoulder armor token, not the armor itself. You then take it to Orgrimmar or Stormwind to trade it in for the armor. The token for druids is also shared by DK's, Mages and Rogues.
Aug 17th 2011 12:44PM Thank you. Oh freaking god thank you. I was hoping for this back when they announced Reforging, before they told us what it would do... Now I can get some use out of that outleveled gear I love the looks of so much...
Aug 9th 2011 10:34AM The irony being, I did... several times after he first ran off. I tried to be polite about it, but he just kept running off and usually aggroing several groups at once. Of course, he wasn't trying to actually hold aggro on most of the people, so everyone kept having to deal with loose adds. After the fight I mentioned and my blowing up on him, while everyone was recovering, he runs around the corner and aggros three large groups. He exploded from damage before I could even follow him around the corner... that's when I gave up and left. I felt bad for the DPS people there...
