Raid Rx: Answering your Cataclysm healing questions {WoW}

Nov 19th 2010 4:45PM Fixed for further clarification, thanks. I blame it on this phenomenon known as the "Curse of Knowledge".

Raid Rx: Answering your Cataclysm healing questions {WoW}

Nov 19th 2010 4:16PM Not sure if this will help, Mir but I shot a for fun video in the new Twin Peaks BG.

It's still fairly fast paced especially if you're being run down by 5+ players. This was in full resilience blue crafted gear. Like the PvP game is just... I can't use heal, period. Its too slow. I have to use instants, or fast casting spells or else I'm out of the game entirely because I get shut down. As a result of spell choice, I run out of steam a lot quicker since I'm burning more mana and being inefficient. From my limited experience, its either be inefficient or die. I don't need to keep my team up forever. I just need to keep them alive long enough to kill the OTHER guy. Then I can drink and stuff after.

Holy and Discipline Priest 3.0.2 spell and ability review {WoW}

Oct 14th 2008 3:42AM The last revision I saved didn't not save the line saying that a number of glyphs would not be learned by Inscriptionists until they hit Northrend.

This has been fixed and adjusted accordingly.

Spiritual Guidance: Patch 3.0.2 - Holy and Disc Priest talent review {WoW}

Oct 13th 2008 1:50PM Niomi:

This will largely depend on your raid group make up. If you have an Elemental Shaman, their Flametongue Totem will provide more of a spell power boost than IDS.

If you have an appropriately specced Warlock (with Fel Intelligence) than Divine Spirit doesn't have to be picked up.

If you have neither of those, then feel free to grab IDS!

Spiritual Guidance: Patch 3.0.2 - Holy and Disc Priest talent review {WoW}

Oct 13th 2008 1:48PM Sparkinator: Great question! This is from my experience at level 80. I believe it will be the same at level 70:

Let's assume you have Surge of Light up and an Improved Holy Concentration Proc along with Clear Cast.

Procs will not override each other (although there is an exception).

If you cast a Flash Heal, it will eat Surge of Light because thats what it checks for first. Clearcast will still be available. The heal after that will be free (Greater Heal or Flash Heal or Binding Heal). Doing so will also eat up one of your Improved Holy Conc procs (down to 1 charge of Holy Concentration).

The next direct heal will then activate the final Holy Concentration.

Scenarios with all Surge, Clearcast, and Imp Holy Conc up:

Flash Heal (Surge activated, instant and free Flash)
Greater Heal (Clearcast and Imp Holy Conc x 1)
Greater Heal (Imp Holy Conc x 2)

Let's reverse it:

Greater Heal (Clearcast, Imp Holy conc x 1)
Flash Heal (Surge activated, instant and free Flash)
Greater Heal (Imp Holy Conc x 2)

I hope this help clears it up!

Oct 13th 2008 1:41PM Yes. I suspect he will at some point once he's recovered from the rigors of Blizzcon.

Spiritual Guidance: Everything you ever wanted to know about raid healing at level 80 {WoW}

Oct 6th 2008 5:58PM Storm: Lots of variance across the board in the 10s. Sometimes I'd have a Shaman and a Paladin. Othertimes, I'd have a Druid and another Priest. I didn't go into Naxx with a set crew. I'd join every possible Naxx pug I could so I could get a "realistic" look at raid healing with all sorts of healing compositions. I've probably partied with just about every single combination (except maybe Priest, Priest, Priest).

Ended up using my Hymn about 30 seconds every encounter or whenever I drop to 80% mana. Shadow fiend another 2 minutes after that. If I could spare a Pot, I'd use that towards te end.

Oct 6th 2008 5:46PM Storm: I don't think I said horrible did I? I wasn't running out of mana extensively and when I did, those were easily explained (No Runic Mana pots on beta AH for one).

Second, my mana holds out long enough but I'm finding myself standing still and doing nothing but reactive healing to desperately regen what mana I have. My spell cast and prioritization is similar to what you have listed.

In my particular case, I started running out of mana on the tail end of various boss fights. I think if my PvP gear was tossed and I had PvE gear on with more regen and spirit, I wouldn't ave such a problem.

My overhealing is probably more because I'm catching myself hitting for 100% overheals at various times. Failure on my own end, no doubt, at mastering Stopcasting (and I'm the one thats gonna write about it, sigh).

So to summarize: Mana problems non existent until getting towards end of fight. Reason: Matts failure.
