Should Blizzard leave heroic encounter difficulty alone? {WoW}

Feb 21st 2012 7:12PM What nerfs are you talking about in specifics. I can see why people are upset over the 5% nerf, but things like Heroic Spine was just bad design. The burst dps requirements were so strict you sidelined several classes because of it. Encounters that encourage the stacking of 10 Arcane mages in a 25 raid is not a good design and I welcome the fact that they decided to "Fix" the encounter.

As for LFR, at this point I still see wipes on Ultraxion because tanks cannot deal with Fading Light correctly, healers go derp mode and dps are doing worse than autowanding. I have seen countless spine wipes in LFR from people over-nuking the Hideous Amalgamation. I have seen wipes on Yor'sahj because no one switched to kill a slime add. The point here is no matter how hard you nerf the content it simply comes down to this: If you do not removed the ability to stand in fire, unskilled players will always die and not be able to move forward.

Also there is a nice data dump on another site that starts with M and ends with ...ion.com that says "The 5% decrease in difficulty made a much bigger impact to players that were stuck on a Heroic boss than it did for those who were stuck on a normal boss."

As for Heroics should always so impossible hard, well for a lot of servers it is increasingly difficult to find a group of 25 competent and dedicated group that is capable of doing Heroic Boss fights all the way through the final boss before nerfs. Before you say just server transfer, I respond with this, are you going to pay my $25 or possibly $50 to get back in fee that is free in other games such as Rift? This is not an acceptable solution.

For me if these nerfs didn't happen, on my server Alliance side, no one would be raiding. We all would be stuck at 3/8 Heroic with little chance of moving forward until we simply over-geared the encounter. I remember this worked well with Mother Shahraz and farming Heart of Darkness on end. We ended up recruiting about 20 players to fill the 20 people that quit the game because they were tired of farming trash to get the proper resistance gear to move past the fight in Black Temple.

Simply put, I would quit this game if the nerfs didn't happen. Most of the normal mode Dragon Soul fights are beyond boring and being faced with that is all I can do because I am stuck on a server with a low population and no chance of getting more players to move forward I just wouldn't want to play ever again.
