The Light and How to Swing It: The paladin epic mount quest for Alliance {WoW}
Feb 27th 2008 2:00AM Thanks for the guide, I just completed this a few weeks ago when my Pally was 61 and your guide was invaluable. I really do feel though that Blizzard has not thought this through at all. The changes made to the game with BC have made this the most difficult and frustrating quest I've ever had to do. Not because of the instance but because of the fact that on my server (Thaurissan) no one - absolutely no one - does these instances any more. Five days looking for a group for Stratholme so that I could spend 15 mins (yes the boxes do sparkle if you have the quest) getting what I needed! Either the rewards from these instances needs to be improved to get players back in there, or the quest should be shifted to Outlands.
The Light and How to Swing It: The paladin's guide to engineering {WoW}
Feb 27th 2008 1:34AM A couple of things left off your list. Most importantly, the Gnomish Death Ray. This fiendish little device can crit hit over 4000 on occasion. The down side for all other classes is that it drains your heath as it charges. Not so for Pallies. Cast Divine Shield, then fire the Death Ray, you take no damage at all. The fact that DS and the Death Ray have exactly the same cool down means that this device was tailor made for Pallies.
If you’re around 30-40, don’t leave home without your Compact Harvest Reaper. These little beauties fight for you for 10 mins, can be repaired, and are invaluable when facing off against several mobs at once, or that jerk who thought you’d make an easy ganking target just because you were at half health.
I have a 62 Pally with mining/armorsmith and a 48 Pally with skinning/engineering. The 62 does the farming for materials which is so easy at his level. I cannot begin to describe how disappointed I have been with armorsmithing, I feel that every time I learn some new armor, it’s not for me but for my warrior buddy, but engineering + survivadin talents make my 48 Pally an almost death-defying machine.
The Light and How To Swing It: Surviving 1-20 as a pally {WoW}
Dec 22nd 2007 11:36PM Yes, as of 2.3 the ogres in Lock Modan are no longer elites, nor are the mobs you have to kill in BFD to get what you need there. This makes the only tough parts of the hammer quest the Deadmines and SFK. You don't need to go all the way through either to get what you need, but if you couple the Deadmines section with the quest for VC's head you get a great set of mail pants to wear. Great article, but I'd have to disagree on the value of the Hammer for Alliance players. I love this hammer and think that it's well worth the effort to get it as soon as possible. On my second Pally, I had it by lvl 21 because I knew what I was doing (the ogres were still elite then). It can do you right into your mid 30s and packs a hell of a wallop when it connects.
