Mar 17th 2009 8:44AM I used to get nervous pugging on my first character (I was always convinced I didn't know what I was doing when playing the rogue - maybe that's why I gave it up). It used to make me very anxious when all the mobs in a pull weren't marked!
Raiding with a new guild for the first time still makes me nervous. Especially MCing Instructor Raz on my first night for the first time. We wiped the first time as I got the hang of it but I must be doing something right cause I always get asked to do that job :)
These days I don't get nervous when I pug - I enjoy it! Best way to play with people outside your guild.
Feb 1st 2009 7:58AM As a shadow priest, I think replenishment is quite fairly distributed - I cannot imagine filling a raid and not finding a ret pally, a couple spriest hanging around (I mean common, I can only think of 2 pallies I know who stayed holy - everyone else is living it up as prot or ret these days).
That said, I watch my brother PuG Naxx 25 and struggle to find a couple of spriests for Instructor Raz. You CAN do it with holy/disc priests, but people dismiss that out of hand based a tiny chance that without hit your MC will fail. Shame. Anyway, I do think Blizzard should consider rejigging this fight. Hate to see so many PuGs skip this wing purely because of that fight.
Feb 1st 2009 7:45AM Yeah right. Ditching 3 stats (penetration, haste and ... something else) and replacing it with a new stat called Potency? I don't believe it.
And furthermore, like they would modify those existing Haste/Penetration enchants to be called Enchant x - Greater Potency.
"Potency" is already used in other enchants to describe +strength enchants. But the notes don't mention renaming those existing enchants.
And plus, overall it was just too much good news and too much new content at once. Where are the nerfs?
Jan 13th 2009 9:26AM Oh. I remembered another very embarrassing moment. One witnessed by my whole guild.
We were clearing SSC at that stage and I was so over doing Lurker that I read somewhere about how with some water-walking buffs and a warlock to summon you could just run all the way to the platform leading to Leo. I went into SSC one night and tried it with Levitate - no problems.
Fast forward to the next week where, while grouping up just before Lurker, I madly run off to prove my point to the Raid Leader. Problem is, I ran straight under one of those Bog Lords patroling the platforms and he agros above me and pulls most of the Leo trash on his way to come and get me - bringing about 20 mobs with him.
"Uh... where did they come from?"
"Did someone's pet pull?!"
Mass confusion after the wipe and even though I owned up to it and tried to explain what I was trying to do over vent, people to this day blame that wipe on the mysterious hunter who couldn't control their pet. LOL
Jan 13th 2009 9:17AM Most embarrassing silly thing I do is go to inspect some stranger and accidentally hit "Invite" instead.
It usually takes me about 5 seconds to figure out what's happened and apologies. Then I feel worse for admitting that I'm scoping them out LOL.
Personally my most embarrasing mistake was with a badge purchases just after the Isle of QuelDanas was released.
I had been saving up for the 2 fist weapons for my Combat Rogue and bought them pretty much right after patch. Raided with them for a couple months before an enhance shammy in the guild asked my why I had a 2.5 speed offhand in the middle of a raid.
I was mortified and up to then didn't realise that there were two separate fist offhand items for sale with identical stats and slightly different names (Vanir's Right Fist of Savergy or Vanir's Right Fist of Brutality I think) - only difference: the weapon speed.
I swapped to a sword offhand I had in the bank the next day, respecced and told everyone I preferred fist/swords. Which, fortunately, was also true.
Jan 13th 2009 9:00AM I'm Shadow and I have to say I'm pretty damn pleased about the shadowform and levitate stuff - when Blizzard fixes the stupid annoying little things it makes me happy :)
Trying to be optimistic about Mind Flay being fixed, and actually doing damage at the same time the channeling bar is visable, but not really counting on it.
Haven't played Holy since BC, and I guess as long as Blizz haven't structured raid bosses around the need for CoH, we'll adapt (but I can't help thinking back to Hex Lord Malacrass where a CoH priest was truly necessary).
Loved Discipline when I tried it at 80. Unfortuately not many people are educated about Discipline style healing these days (aside from recognising the Spirit buff imo) and I did cop some flack for shielding from a PuG group with a Pally Tank who was losing agro early in the fight. But, frankly, I felt the build was pretty dependant on shielding and when I didn't sheild, man I had my work cut out for me! Of course, I've tried with our guild pally tank and not had a problem. Smart tank & smart dps makes healing much more enjoyable.
IMO the general WoW population will eventually learn that Disc healing is just as viable in PVE, it has its own style, and you're not gimped if you can't CoH.
Jan 13th 2009 8:29AM Although I understand that Robiness just doesn't seem like a proper name to match the awesomeness of your character (Qira did sound exotic, mystical etc) it has 1 HUGE advantage:
it will be shortened to Robin, a perfectly nice, easy to pronounce name.
Personally I wouldn't have changed it.
I imagine almost any name you pick that sounds like an actual name will have some kind of meaning to someone out there.
I think it's more important that Qira was meaningful to you and your server population as that mage in such and such guild who I pugged a heroic with.
Dec 29th 2008 1:29PM To all you smug AH players, not all servers price their greens so low.
Lvl 71 greens (disenchanting to 1 or 2 dust) sell for minimum of 6g on Barthilas. Dust is about 5g which seems to be fairly common server to server. So there's no real money to be made there.
All I see in trade channel are enchanters paying their customers 50g if they get a skill up. I don't see this with any other profession.
My other profession is Tailoring which I wanted to level first, so like many others i'm experiencing a severe shortage of dusts. Unfortunately Duskweave Belt is a good cloth -> dust pattern, but the mats are somewhat expensive (it's 7 bolts of Frostweave, just over a stack of cloth).
ATM I'm farming Frostweave from humanoids and selling the raw cloth for 1g a piece. Then buying dust on AH. This is currently more profitable/reliable on Barthilas then crafting cloth items in order to disenchant them. Cloth is too valuable.
Dec 16th 2008 9:32AM It's the gloating that gets to me.
How you react in that situation is one thing, how you feel about it is something else. The fact that the Blacksmith gloated over the incident proves that he would most likely gloat when he outbids a guild member for his next raid drop using DKP.
I'd have gkicked him too.
Oct 18th 2008 8:24PM I originally kept Mediation, but respecced a day later. Without putting all those points in discipline you end up with more DPS. The mana returns feel about the same - you do need to rely more on Shadowfiend & Dispersion. So I took the talents that reduce those cooldown.
I did spec into 2/2 Improved Vamp Embrace. It's gonna get nerfed so why not live it up now while it's insane. I no longer watch the DPS meters, I watch the healing meters. Too cool it's crazy.
