WoW in the running for Game of the Decade {WoW}

Dec 8th 2009 7:59AM In a braindead comparison by sales Wikipedia says (argue with them about it!) that The Sims 2's 16 million > WoW's 11 million, and then add the endless list of Sims expansion packs too that EA churns out.

But in genres or fun, how can they be compared, it is so subjective .. like Civ4 vs Peggle?!! It is basically "what is your favorite genre?"

So anyway, IMO, KOTOR is superlative in terms of story. WoW is truly epic in size. They are different games, I've enjoyed both. But when they finish the KOTOR MMO (SWTOR), then which one of SWTOR or WoW would I play in the future? I don't know yet, although the story aspect of the TOR games is a big draw.

Taiwanese player earns all of the achievements {WoW}

Dec 4th 2009 7:21AM When they first came out in 2.4, I thought "Achievements are the new grind", and look, they are!

Is doing a checklist set out for you an achievement ... or a grindy time-sink. Because, it used to be the case (before 2.4) that doing something notable in WoW was also doing something _nobody_ had thought of yet.

Nov 19th 2009 8:10PM The looting on all-fours vibe looks cool!

And the idle anim means there's going to be a lot of ground sniffing going on in SW!

Breakfast Topic: This is getting a little silly... {WoW}

Nov 18th 2009 12:11PM All the posters above complaining about WoW not having a fantasy-style storyline or not being immersive need to go back and carry on with their "Lolarthasdk" characters on their non-RP servers.

These same people probably watched LOTR and complained that the lead characters were not eating Big Macs and fries because "LOL!! Immersion what is that?".

All the World's a Stage: Player housing, interactivity, and other possible features {WoW}

Nov 16th 2009 8:17AM Unfortunately RP is not a line of progression in the game's design because Blizz adopted a fixed themepark model of MMO.

What is needed is to make all RP gear have its own stat, useable in quests/dailies that affect the cities and settlements in a dynamic way for better or worse.

Done fully this means dynamic/changeable cities, which is a core change beyond the scope of the game now WoW is so well-established ... but it could be done in limited way.

Like for example: making minigames which involve those empty city inns.

How Blizzard used the dungeon system to change Oculus {WoW}

Nov 14th 2009 6:05PM Surely they already have stats on what instances are launched/most popular.

Nov 10th 2009 10:32AM I want to see new boars in Cataclysm !!!

Shoveltusk are ok I suppose, but I was disappointed that there was not an early snow boar quest in Wrath. Shoveltusk are just not swine enough. It's a tradition, Crag Boar, Fel Boar, ...

IgroMir 2009: More Cataclysm guild leveling details {WoW}

Nov 9th 2009 12:18PM I wonder if the Guild Tax is another guild talent?

Then it would _not_ be a free 10%, since your guild would be putting points into that instead of other bonuses.

Patch 3.3 PTR: Meeting Stones for all {WoW}

Nov 4th 2009 7:52AM They've added it to buff out normal groups, given that the new random LFGs will get a flashy teleport!

Nov 3rd 2009 2:44PM Unnecessary achievements are the new grind ...

"Defeat boss facing backward while casting wand using left foot and standing next to a lava slime while brushing hair and doing /dance in PvP in 2 minutes or less while opening spellbook with shield equipped".
