Dec 8th 2008 8:43AM Your argument is a straw man. Loss of life does not compare to
monetary loss. Looking at your other arguments in this thread, they are also straw mans. You fail at debate.
Dec 8th 2008 8:21AM There are 10 million people who play WoW in the world. How many play on private servers? There's no way to get an accurate number, but what would you guess? Thousands? 100,000? What fraction of these people play a private server exclusively, rather than playing private and retail? Whatever the number I'm sure it hardly makes a dent in Blizzard's sales.
I played a Korean MMO known for the quantity and quality of it's private servers, so much so that the developers actually held a contest for who could maintain the best private server. And you know what, even the "best" private servers were crappy compared to retail. It wasn't even worth bothering for me. It was only worth bothering for people who wanted a max level character in 5 minutes on a server where only a thousand people played-- period-- maybe 50 of which were on at a time. If a private server had any more players than that, it would become unstable and loose members.
My point is I don't see why Blizzard cares because it's not a threat. They're probably spending more money finding and suing these people than they are losing to people who chose to play private instead of retail.
Nov 26th 2008 9:59PM No we like nice guys, just not the fake ones. We can tell.
See No More Mister Nice Guy.
Nov 25th 2008 9:08PM Article is mostly bullshit for this female gamer. I'm not single, but if I were I'd not be going on WoW to find people to date. I can tell when a guy wants to find women in the game, and the flirtations are a huge turnoff. People trying to turn my hobby into Myspace feels like an invasion of my personal space. I wouldn't be opposed to finding love on WoW, but it would take a bit of time to build up trust that they weren't just spamming their nice guy routine to every woman on WoW.
Nov 7th 2008 9:21AM What is the president for inter-racial relationships and mating in existing lore? I find it interesting the races don't seem to inter-breed very frequently because humans are quite the opposite. I understand there are no Orc/Draenei children because most of the Draenei were killed after the Orcs plundered them, but surely there are Orc/Humans running around from the three wars? Trolls/Elves?
Nov 7th 2008 9:17AM Oooh pick me. My spouse thinks the authenticators are silly and won't let me buy one.
Nov 7th 2008 9:15AM Emerald Dream is a popular answer, although I would enjoy that I would prefer the Maelstrom with an underwater city and a amphibious playable race.
Oct 23rd 2008 1:43PM Wow, the voice acting was really terrible.
That said I thought the editing was probably the best I've seen from a machinima.
Oct 13th 2008 2:31PM Thanks for your input, I didn't know how those other buffs compared to IDS. Assuming that I decide to continue with IDS, how would you recommend talents be spent? I am unsure which of the new Holy Spells would be best to prioritize.
Oct 13th 2008 1:17PM Matt, love your column. What would you recommend for raiding IDS priests after the patch?
