All the World's a Stage: The challenges in roleplay {WoW}

Oct 24th 2010 5:11PM This is a big reason why I no longer play. I can stay on my RP server and report names every day. At some point it just gets too much.

Then I get in a BG and it's
Internet The Explorer

How much is too much? Eventually i reached my limit. You all enjoy, but this is decidedly second-line priorities for Blizzard. The big push is new and shiny content that accessible and convenient and fast and flashy and purplez gearz. Remember, you have people in charge who go by names like "Tigolebitties" and such.

The Art of War(craft): Random thoughts on Cataclysm PvP {WoW}

Yes, actually, I'm on the beta. Not everything is phased. Especially when everyone hits the Vashj'ir at the same time, it'll be crazy. There's still a lot of opportunity for world PvP, especially when most players hit the same stage of the endgame.

With flying all over the place? Really, Zach? With fast swimming mounts? With unbalanced servers?
With exp from chaining dungeons taking away ~20-30% of the levelers?
With exp from BGs taking away another ~20-30% of the levelers?
(I'm guessing most people will want to see the new questing content, but after doing it once will just chain run dungeons for gear, or mix it up, or wait til the rush is over. Either case both leveling via BGs and dungeons will take away a significant chunk of the 'World' population. How significant is anyone's guess.)

There'll be the one rush for a month or two as people want to level up via questing through new zones and content - but the vast majority of the time that Cataclysm will be the content that's played, world pvp is gonna take a huge backseat. It's just not a priority for Blizzard, see for more info (some language).

Priority for TBC: 2 new races, pallys/shamans for all, raids, new world server, arenas, 'hub city' model
Priority for WOTLK: raiding for all, easy accessibility to everything, incl. server/faction transfers, easy questing, streamlining, teleporting, queueing, battlegroup-wide content over server content
Priority for Cata: streamlining old world, rated BGs, more instant-gratification raiding/heroics/teleportation, flying in old world - the final nail in the coffin for anything and everything that once made a PVP server different from a PVE server, more 'easy cool stuff' like motorcycles, trikes, easy-access mounts etc

The Art of War(craft): Random thoughts on Cataclysm PvP {WoW}

Aug 13th 2010 7:00PM Mushrooms coming out of my ***. More abilities on my already crowded Cat Form bar (which we all know is the main pvp form for ferals) - knowing that I have to have instant access to not only all abilities that are usable ONLY in Cat Form, but also all abilities + Engineering/Item with an 'On Use' thing that are instant cast or instantly take me out of Cat Form - it's just too much. Take some abilities away. Take away Cyclone. Take away Feral Charge - Bear (not that it would help my cat issues much, but it's a start), take away the damn mushrooms - if I wanted to play a trapper I'd make a Diablo II assassin or a Survival Hunter. Sure, interrupt was needed, but at least get rid of Savage Roar then. Rebalance dps output accordingly - not saying ferals are too high right now, just saying they don't need more abilities. The keyboard is only so big and there's a limit to how much you can do with macros.

Feral Engineers who like to pvp are just hosed as it stands. So I'll just lurk instead of re-activating for Cata. Other reason being I'm not a big fan of being able to fly away from world pvp.

All the World's a Stage: How Cataclysm will help roleplaying {WoW}

Jun 27th 2010 8:09PM naming policy non-enforcement - pushing enforcement onto the player base

...big part of why I'm no longer playing, together with the death of tight-knit server communities and the sense of being immersed in a WORLD

The Daily Quest: PvP fun {WoW}

Apr 24th 2010 11:11PM Or how about you just have fun and don't be overly critical of other random internet dwellers who just want to get some pvp on and don't give a rat's hoot about who wins or loses in a BG?

AddOn Spotlight: Warrior, rogue, druid, hunter addons {WoW}

Apr 23rd 2010 7:01PM Part of FbN, a now severely outdated mod that's no longer recommended by ...damn near anyone.

That little info box and few other things were rather interesting, but the code was way out of whack, project suffered from severe bloating and was an early fore-runner of much smoother things to come.

Like the EJ Ovale scripts and such.

AddOn Spotlight: Warrior, rogue, druid, hunter addons {WoW}

Apr 22nd 2010 9:07PM You asked the wrong druids, didn't look through the EJ forum, didn't bother looking for a feral druid video guide, didn't bother looking for a feral druid wow wiki guide and last but not least didn't bother noticing that FbN - while once a state-of-the-art addon, is now 8 months out of date.

Ovale + EJ feral thread devoted to it and getting the max dps sequence algorithm.
BadKitty or similar timer bar thing, or Power Auras, or NeedToKnow, or whatever timer addon you prefer.

Shifting Perspectives: Class homogenization and the cat {WoW}

Apr 21st 2010 1:44PM Good article. Kinda wish they wouldn't throw more stuff at the cat, though - and instead just balance feral pvp around not having more abilities than we already do.

Cataclysm Class Changes: Impact on PvP, part 4 {WoW}

Apr 16th 2010 12:46AM Life Grip - Griefers' Heaven.

Heroic Leap - awesome. And also awesome exploit and graphical cutting and pathing issues. Heroic Leap inside WSG tunnel anyone? Heroic Leap and Charge and Intervene and whatchamacallit the other one?

I have no doubt that they'll get the balancing better than Wrath which was better than BC which was better than the game at 60.

Meat of the problem coming up, though:
Higher hp pools baseline at 85. Not as much quick 100-to-10-to-100% health pool yo-yo'ing in pvp. Which is all fine and dandy.

Now fast forward a few raid/seasons patches later. Healers have gained gear and want that gear to give them faster/better heals and more/quicker mana. Everyone wants their character to improve. Which means health pools have to rise that much faster with gear so that the faster better heals don't get us back to the yo-yo syndrome.

Or they can just make the gear improvements much more gradual and small, which the majority of players won't like. All the Xbox Live/instant gratification kids want bigger faster flashier numbers NOW please.
