I was disappointed that such short shrift was given to the subt tree.
That tree is overwhelmed by the OP HaT ability.
That tree was a 51 point talent that's not used.
That tree can't decide if it's "all about the opener", "all about the finisher", "all about daggers" or "all about hemo".
It just lacks focus and needs a serious overhaul. Assassination & Combat are great. Subt is goofy.
I was looking for admisssion that all of the above are true.
I was looking for a promise that someday they'll fix it.
And would have accepted a "be happy with 3 useable PVE builds and 1 usable PVP build" if CD had covered the rest.

I thought I had to land on the boat and DPS them.

PS: it's not so bad. Their aggro radius is like ... 2 feet.
And I'm pretty sure they even drop a few silver (although I may be mistaken).
And they're on the way to the island which it seems I have to fly out to every day anyway so its not like I wasn't going to make the trip anyway.

Should Arena rankings be determined by class? {WoW}

May 28th 2009 7:01PM I like the idea.
There will ALWAYS be class imbalance - until such a time as we're all forced to play a single class.
First of all you can't truly expect to balance something as complicated as WoW - soooo many spells, gems, items, enchants, racials, specs!
Compare with a "simple" game like StarCraft. Blizzard spent years balancing that and there are only 3 "classes". And there's only been one expansion to complicate matters.

Second of all by the time Blizzard figures out "yes that really IS overpowered, we better fix that" and then figures out a fix the season may be over (witness: season 5).

I disagree that grading on a curve absolves Blizzard from trying to improve balance.
Instead it keeps us from getting screwed while they sort things out.
How is that bad? (Unless you're the best-in-season class and riding high).

May 6th 2009 4:36PM played rogue/mage season 5 and did terrible.
playing rogue/priest season 6 and doing much better.

Between the pally bubble + DK anti-magic they are VERY difficult to beat with rogue/mage. I think we beat one pair all season. And I explain that as either
a) they were noobs
b) lag
c) they were wearing greens
d) all of the above

But with rogue/priest its just fear/blind the DK and burn down the pally (mass dispell the bubble).

For poisons I run with WP/WP (with Deadly Brew to also apply cripple). WP does tons of damage, and has mortal strike effect. The lack of a DOT means I can blind/gouge w/o breaking my own CC. My PVP spec eschews Improved Poisons.

The other advantage of pairing with a priest over mage or 2nd rogue is the heal/shields. Since the battles last more than a few seconds you have time to recover from a mistake.
I was never good enough or fast enough to truly exploit the lightning play necessary to succeed with 2xDPS.

And finally IMO fear is better than poly.
You can apply damage to feared targets.
There are AoE fears.
Fear causes melee to run away giving my priest positional control.

And now for the note to rogues that made me post this in the first place:
Get good daggers!
You need two slow iLvl 200+ daggers for PVP mutilate spec to really work.
Here's a couple of easy places even non-raiders like me can get them:
1. Blacksmiths made Titansteel Shanker (or buy from the AH)
2. Argent Tourney (it's time to grind some badges)
Alliance - Dagger of the Rising Moon
Horde - Spinal Destoyer

What's the big deal about weapons?
Mutilate DPS is a function of how hard your daggers hit.
If you're all about maximizing your DP and energy regen with your librarian's paper cutters then that's fine for PVE but it doesn't cut it (ha ha) for PVP.
Get some hard hitting daggers and revel in your new found power.

The problem I see is not so much the dominance of a couple of classes (DK, holy pally)
Bur rather how other classes are failing altogether:
and on the US Realms:

In past seasons those 3 were power houses.
I think perhaps Blizzard overcompensated?

I have to totally agree with your 41-point Crusader Strike lament.

LOL at instant attack 110% weapon damage
- 8% mana, 6 second cooldown.

Compare with Rogue's 21-point Hemorrhage:
110% weapon damage
+ 75 damage x next 10 physical hits.
- 35 energy (3.5 seconds to regen), standard rogue 1 sec GCD

Rogues think that is terrible DPS.
Poor Ret pallys. You were good and then Ghostcrawler "nerfed you to the ground, baby".

So given the fact that the censors cannot and will not be satisfied - we can blow off concerns about sad pandas.
