The Game Archaeologist and the Girdle of Anarchy: My expedition {Massively}

Sep 28th 2010 6:18PM Oh one thing I miss more than anything though... non-regional servers. AFAIK only AO & EVE still keep people from all over the world in one place. And I think that's a shame.

The Game Archaeologist and the Girdle of Anarchy: My expedition {Massively}

Sep 28th 2010 6:14PM AO was the second MMO I ever played, UO being the first.
Leaving the starting area into Omni-Entertainment for the first time was a real jaw-dropper of a moment as the graphics seemed state of the art back then.

I remember my four years or so in there with fondness:
Roleplaying with the much maligned Omni-Pol, Tarasque raids, Gridstream radio and their amazing parties, patches that made the game unplayable, huge grinding sessions to level up, and needing a calculator and a degree in maths to figure out where to spend IPs and do your implants!

Maybe I should go back and try it again on a Froob account or something. Then again maybe doing that would just spoil those good memories I have when I realise how dated it's become.

Breakfast Topic: Titles {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2010 8:50AM I loved the Badge Title system they used in City of Heroes. Loads to choose from, some as easy to get as visiting a single point of lore significance. Some people preferred the titles showing they had achieved something really hard to do, some people just liked titles that sounded cool (regardless of how easy or hard they were to get). Point is, with so many possible titles you didn't see the same ones repeated on every other player you saw.

Anyway, while we'll probably never see something like this in WoW, I'd love to see more titles and for a greater variety of achievements.
