Breakfast Topic: If you could add game mechanic to WoW what would it be {WoW}

Apr 28th 2009 11:00AM Yeah, that multi-class idea is pretty bejeezus retarded. A rogue with a shield who shoots fireballs! It's like that car that Homer designed.

Yes, the ignorant and the bigoted have a right to express their hateful ideas. No one said they don't. YOU'RE the one who said this post about tolerance should never have been made because it might (shock! horror!) have upset homophobes.

Straight-pride parades aren't necessary because straight people aren't subjected to intolerance from ignorant bigots like yourself as a result of their sexuality. And if you're worried about children seeing "this kind of stuff" in WoW because it's a place "where children play," well, it's not. See that big letter "T" on the front of the box? It stands for "teen" and it means the game isn't supposed to be played by children who haven't reached their teens, genius. Not that it should matter since queer sexuality isn't something dirty or shameful or something to be hidden from young people.

Oct 21st 2008 4:23PM This guild sounds outstanding. I'm constantly disgusted by the rampant, immature hate speech in WoW. I would love to join Taint except (a) I need an east-coast server, and (b) my only character is Alliance and I don't make alts. What a terrific-sounding guild, though. Serious kudos.

He said, she said: Does Blizzard support homosexual stereotyping? {WoW}

Mar 30th 2008 10:52AM “prancing around and jumping and spinning and the voice of the guy sounds like a sissy”

“I hate Elves... standing all side ways and trying to look pretty”

“I wish another Horde Class got Paladin instead of Elves”

“Blood Elf Males are a bit fruity”

“Not that there is anything wrong with being gay.”

Jesus, do you really think tacking on that last sentence is going to convince people that everything else you'd just written DOESN'T make you a ignorant, homophobic piece of shit?

Mar 30th 2008 10:47AM I don't think that the blood elves are meant to be obviously gay. I don't think they're meant to be of any sexuality, because sexuality is not a part of the game. I think it's difficult to argue that they are as a race more typically feminine than typically masculine, but that doesn't mean the same thing as homosexual. In fact, every single player character in the game is asexual unless the player chooses to RP their sexual identity. But if players across the spectrum choose to interpret "feminine male" as "homosexual," then we can't blame Blizzard for that ignorance. God knows that this game is played by enough moronic, intolerant teenagers and overgrown teenagers who spread homophobia regardless of the presence of an arguably homosexual (or feminine or trans or genderqueer or whatever) male player-character choice. And I know this because I played WoW before TBC and it's not like back then the Trade Channel and Barrens chat were free from people using the word "fag" as frequently as a definite article.

Breakfast Topic: The price of flight {WoW}

Mar 21st 2008 1:07PM If spending hours every day grinding and farming for gold instead of, say, having FUN in-game or any kind of a life out-of-game is fine by you, then yes, obtaining a flying mount should be cake. The rest of us would rather, you know, "play" a "game" and like occasionally go out and get our dicks sucked. But I guess it takes all kinds.

My favorite was the guy who was all, "Epic flying was easy to get! All I had to do was spend time playing before work, after work, and after my kids went to bed. Every day."
