Running on Snow and Ice: Review of Yaktrax Pro {That's Fit Canada}

Feb 11th 2010 12:06PM There are better cleats for running IMO.

I like Due North traction aids.

They work great, especially on ice and most importantly they are not as irritating on pavement. I can run these for 20k - good grip on ice, cuts through thin snow to the pavement, and you barely notice them on regular surface (unlike the Yaks).

Also, replaceable spikes and they are pretty cheap. burns for a Warlock columnist {WoW}

Aug 10th 2009 9:35AM I second the Fallenman suggestion. If you can get him to do it, you'll have somebody with the cred and knowledge to do a top-notch Warlock column.

World of Warcraft Patch 3.2 Warlock Guide {WoW}

Aug 5th 2009 10:38AM Nick, Glyph of Life Tap is not just essential for Affliction Warlocks, it is and has been essential for ALL Warlock specs save deep destro with ISL.

Are there bad talents? {WoW}

Jul 29th 2009 2:36PM Yeah, .5 seconds of the GC for CURSES you cast. Know how many curses you can have up on a target at a time? Yeah, one. So this entire talent = .5 second cooldown reduction on curses that last for between 24 seconds (Curse of Agony) and 5 minutes. Useless.

It doesn't show up as bad in the stats as it would be since it is a pre-req for Curse of Exhaustion which is commonly used in PvP.

Blood Pact: Onward, to 80! {WoW}

May 12th 2009 1:53PM Stamina is useless unless you are doing PvP. Hit, Spellpower, Haste, Crit, Spirt in roughly that order are what counts. If you are not at a level to get much for hit gear yet, just go with max spell power while levelling.

No mention of Meta? No mention of the Lifetap/Felguard build... probably the best 70-80 Warlock leveling build going? No mention of a deep demonology build with all the pet talents like Demonic Resilience so you can solo at-level 5 man quests? These are a few of the key areas that should be added to the article.

You know what... lets make it simpler. Go here:

The Queue: Uber Epic DPS {WoW}

May 12th 2009 9:37AM I have 2 comments. First for the original article:
"Additionally, you do no DPS if you're dead. That means you need to know all the fights before you enter the instance / raid. If you die, you do zero DPS and are a prime candidate to be replaced."

That's great, how do you suppose anyone new learn the fights? Sure you can read up on them, but the first few times, they are gonna cause problems anyway. This ends up meaning that players new to raiding can't get into it at all, since you need experience to "not die", and you can't get the experience without... well dieing.

Second comment is DPS in general. It's laughable really, I'm pretty casual and I PUG quite a bit. As a Meta warlock I'll, if asked, say something like (1,8k - 2,5k DPS). Then I get back "Lolz, what is it 1.8k or 2.5K?" Duh, it depends on the fight and the situation, what buffs I have, etc. I've given up being that accurate, since most people are just confused by it and I say "2K+ DPS" instead. Then I wind up in a PUG where everybody is supposed to be 2k+DPS... but I'm the only one who can pull that in the Heroic and the other 2 DPS do 1,300. Or the tank is under geared and we have to CC and single pull, so as a Warlock I'm not going to crack 2k. Etc. The point of all of this is... don't bother asking what somebody says their DPS is. Just look at their gear and talk to them to see if they are reasonably intelligent. If they have mostly blues and a brain, they'll be fine.

Breakfast Topic: A trip down memory lane {WoW}

May 11th 2009 8:53AM Ok now I have to go dig up my beta screenshots. I have a few shots of the "end of beta" event, where Blizz spawned infernals and huge dread lords in the major cities and basically over the course of a few hours killed the entire world as a prelude to the shutdown of the beta servers. I'm not sure if that was the end of closed beta or open beta... anybody know?

Ah that was epic. Best part was when a couple of high level priests discovered they could mind control the Infernals - leading to massive Infernal on Infernal battles. Blizz was also using something that made everybody dance. And I mean everybody, not just people in a small AoE. Everybody in Ironforge dancing all at once... all the time. Ahhh good times.
