This is the most bizarre and entertaining Dave Kosak interview ever {WoW}

Apr 1st 2012 8:09PM He totally said "Pand-ahr-ia"! I feel vindicated.

Blue Posts: (More) LFR loot rules clarification, item squish, DotA-style BG, spoilers {WoW}

Mar 20th 2012 2:18PM > Loot gets wasted today if someone needs it who already has it (probably because they need everything), or if the game just keeps dropping the same stuff over and over.

Rogue. Mage. Druid. DK. Tokens.

Every. Fucking. Week.

Our rogue has his four-piece. Or druid has two four-pieces. Now we're just vendoring the things.

So. Frustrating.

WoW guild master apparently a really good qualification for running Best Buy {WoW}

Mar 11th 2012 3:21PM Best Buy is a slow-motion train wreck. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that "You lead a guild once?" would be considered sufficient qualification at this point....

5 ways to fail at Battlegrounds {WoW}

Mar 1st 2012 4:56AM I've never understood the don't-fight-on-the-road thing (although I've tried to follow it, under the assumption that I'm just not smart enough to get it). Yes, I'll grant you, if I'm fighting on the road, I'm not attacking or defending a base - but am I not simultaneously tying up a player on the other team, who is _also_ then not attacking or defending? And if as a DPS I'm keeping a healer out of where they really ought to be, isn't that a win, given that they are, as stated in the article, worth more than I am?

Are pure DPS classes really just another form of hybrid in disguise? {WoW}

Feb 27th 2012 3:44PM > And for a pure DPS class, that's about the worst thing that can possibly happen to you. Your job as DPS is to simply pump out as much damage as humanly possibly on whatever target you happen to be killing -- and if you can't do that, what good are you?

Well, it's a trade-off, in that case, isn't it? Which is more important - do we need more DPS, or do we really, really need a rogue feinting to reduce Stomp damage?

If your raid needs your damage more, then having you switch to Subtlety may not be the best solution. There are other ways to deal with it, of course, depending on your composition... for example, as a Warrior tank, I respecced to pick up Safeguard, and I can use that to reduce the damage taken by the Fury Warrior we've got standing with me on about every other Stomp. By calling out when I don't have that available, I can let our group's healer know when the other Warrior's going to need more attention. We've also both got Rallying Cry that we can use, and I can use my 4-piece once every couple of minutes....

So, options. It's all about trade-offs. Sure, kicking out the leet deeps is nominally your job, but sometimes the raid needs to sacrifice that for utility. Sometimes other things work out better.

Breakfast Topic: Is Cataclysm tanking getting easier and easier? {WoW}

Feb 25th 2012 10:18AM Depends on the fight. Heroic Morchok, for instance, is fun because movement and positioning and using Safeguard on the other person eating stomps. Normal Madness is okay, mainly for its later phases. Fights like Normal Ultraxion and Spine I can pretty much do on autopilot, which isn't a lot of fun. I'm hoping the rest of the heroic modes are challenging and engaging, as we get into doing more of them... although with the incoming nerf increase, who knows.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Considering the Mists talent calculator {WoW}

Feb 19th 2012 12:30AM At 75, Safeguard and Vigilance could both be pretty handy talents to allow you to save the group once in a while - if the healer's getting chewed on, or the tank is about to die but your health is fine, that sort of thing. Kind of like Rallying Cry, which is a pretty great way for a DPS Warrior to be able to save the day. Honestly, we need people doing more of this kind of stuff. It won't increase your leet deeps, but you WILL be a rock star if you do it right.

The panicked scream ability is amusing, but really, really, really not Warrior-y. Heh.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Considering the Mists talent calculator {WoW}

Feb 19th 2012 12:24AM Well, in fairness, this WOULD be the first time he's gotten something completely and totally wrong through an outright failure to pay attention or actually properly research what he's talking about. Certainly hasn't ever happened before. Ever.

Feb 18th 2012 10:51PM I'm not sure if it's a NEW change, but I'm pretty excited that it appears that Deep Wounds is going to be applied by all Mortal Strike, Bloodthirst, and Devastate hits. No more having to apply Rend? Nice.

I'm not terribly thrilled, on the other hand, by Devastate now having a 4.5 second CD. I sort of like always having a button I can press, and I'm not sure how often it will be worth hitting Heroic Strike during gaps in the rotation, if I need to be banking rage for Shield Block or Shield Barrier.
